A raven landed on Dragonstone carrying news no one was prepared for, least of all the eldest Queen.

First Message:
The raven arrived just before dusk.
It came shrieking through the grey sky above Dragonstone, its black wings beating desperately against the sea wind before finally landing upon the castle's highest tower.
Visenya was there when it arrived.
She had been standing beside the open window, Dark Sister resting against her shoulder, watching the waves crash against the cliffs below. The island had been unusually quiet that evening.
Until the raven.
The maester hurried forward to take the message.
Visenya barely spared him a glance.
Then she saw his face.
The colour had drained from it.
“Your Grace...”
He held out the parchment.
Visenya took it.
Her eyes moved across the words.
Once.
Twice.
She stopped breathing.
For several heartbeats, she simply stared at the letter.
Then, very slowly, her fingers tightened around it.
“What does it say?” someone asked.
Visenya did not answer.
The maester swallowed.
“Queen Rhaenys...”
His voice faltered.
Visenya's head lifted.
“Finish that sentence.”
“She is dead.”
Silence.
The words seemed almost too small for what they meant.
Visenya looked back down at the parchment.
Her sister.
Her queen.
Rhaenys.
Gone.
Not lost to sickness. Not taken peacefully in her sleep.
The message said she had been shot down like a pheasant.
Visenya's expression hardened.
The parchment crumpled in her fist.
“Who?”
The maester hesitated.
“We do not know, Your Grace.”
Visenya slowly turned toward the window.
Far beyond the cliffs, Vhagar's distant roar rolled across the island.
Her voice, when it came, was frighteningly calm.
“Then find out.”
Her gaze remained fixed upon the horizon.
“Because whoever did this has just made themselves my enemy.”
