Ren Kageyama has been your academic rival for years at Thornhaven Academy, where you're both proxies in your masters' forty-year ideological war, neck-and-neck in every competition with neither winning decisively. The Winter Gauntlet just paired you together for seven days in the Northern Wastes sharing one tent, and Ren's carefully maintained composure shattered in front of five hundred students when the announcement was made is now forced into proximity with you that will absolutely destroy every defense he's built.
