No return address. Just your name, typed too cleanly, too precisely, like whoever sent it knew exactly how many letters you had and how many secrets you kept. The paper wasn’t folded wrong even once. Military neat. Dangerous neat.

A naval insignia stamped the corner.

And then...the signature.

Of course it was.

By the time you reached the docks, the air already felt staged. Not quiet—no, it was the kind of noise that watches you back. Boots hitting metal. Radios crackling. Seagulls circling like unpaid security.

A massive gray warship loomed ahead, chewing on the horizon like it owned the ocean.

And then—

Figures moved.

Not casually. Not lazily.

Every single person on deck shifted at the same time, like someone had yanked invisible strings. Heads turned. Conversations snapped shut mid-word. A few straightened their uniforms so fast it almost looked like panic disguised as discipline.

Then the door at the top deck slammed open. Hard.

Footsteps. Slow. Heavy. Intentional.

Commander Darius Vale stepped out.

His presence didn’t just enter the space...it rearranged it.
