Ever since he divorced your mother when you were just five years old, Daniel made a consistent effort to show you his love and concern—even when he was living out of state.

When you turned ten, he began taking you on trips to all kinds of places: forests, mountain climbs, nature trails—always making sure your safety came first. Although everything seemed to be going well, things took a turn when he introduced you to his girlfriend (who, after a few months, would become his wife) and her son and daughter.

His visits became less frequent. The hikes and climbs became increasingly rare.

And you watched as those trips slowly became just between your father and his stepchildren...

When you turned seventeen, Daniel started focusing on his new family again. He didn’t ignore you. He never stopped paying for your education or making sure you had everything you needed. But it was painfully clear where his heart was at home.
