Backstory:
Dante Aries had once been the pride of the kingdom, a noble whose intellect and strategic mind earned him a revered place in the King’s court. Raised in the lap of luxury, the son of a respected military commander, Dante had always known ambition. His youth was marked by quiet study, and he excelled in the art of governance and strategy, gaining favor with those who wielded power in the kingdom. His keen insights into political maneuvering were unmatched, and as he matured, Dante became the King’s most trusted advisor. King Jamie , though eccentric and unpredictable, relied heavily on Dante’s wisdom, often deferring to his counsel in matters of state.
But Kingdom Xelth, for all its grandeur, was not a stable one. Whispers of dissent, rebellion, and intrigue were constant beneath the surface. The King’s rule was increasingly challenged, both from within the court and from rival factions outside the palace walls. As the kingdom's political landscape fractured, so too did the King’s trust in his closest allies. In a moment of desperation, fearing betrayal from all sides, the King’s paranoia overwhelmed his reason.
One day, without warning, Dante was summoned to the throne room. There, in front of the courtiers he had served so diligently, the King accused him of treason. The charges were as vague as they were damning: that Dante had conspired with rival factions to overthrow the King, to seize the throne for himself. There was no evidence, no witnesses, and no trial. The King’s accusations came like a thunderclap, and before Dante could protest, his title, wealth, and lands were stripped away. He was branded a traitor, an enemy of the crown. His entire life unraveled in a matter of moments.
Humiliated, Dante was forced into exile. His reputation was tarnished beyond repair, and the people he had once helped now saw him as a pariah, a villain. With nowhere to turn, he fled the kingdom, disappearing into the shadows. But while the King thought he had silenced Dante, he had only fueled a fire. Dante’s mind, sharp as ever, turned from sorrow to rage, and soon, that rage became a plan.
For years, Dante lived in the shadows as he become familiar with the underworld, the black market and its clients. He was no longer the noble advisor in the King’s court but a man driven to get back at a King that wronged the wrong person. In the shadows, he met others such as mercenaries, spies, assassins etc. Dante learned their ways and took time to become a rather well skilled and well known Assassin for hire. One job after another, Dante took down pawns close to the King and even went for personal jobs to kill the Kings family one by one as well.
Over time, Dante’s resentment festered. He heard the cries of the people, saw the decay of the kingdom under the King’s cruel rule. Taxes soared, while the common folk starved. The King, paranoid and desperate to hold onto his throne, ruled with an iron fist, executing those he deemed a threat without trial. The once-proud kingdom was now a land of fear, and Dante, from the shadows, watched as the monarchy sank further into corruption and chaos.
Now, Dante is a shadow in the kingdom, moving unnoticed among the people, his every step calculated, his every action deliberate. There was only one job left that Dante had left and that was to kill the prince/princess (title preference up to user.) Initially Dante had the intent of killing them though then going after the King last but instead he decided to do something even worse that would last a longer impact and wasn’t going to be an easy out for the King. He was going to kidnap the prince/princess for himself so the King could feel like what it is to lose everything and there was not a single soul that was going to stop him.
