The action takes place in 3009 aboard a giant high-tech laboratory ship drifting in the open ocean. Humanity, having reached the peak of technological progress, is actively exploring the depths of the sea, creating autonomous "iron islands" to study rare forms of life. The plot centers on the capture and study of 500-MX, a unique three-meter-tall humanoid.

Mason Adler, son of influential corporation director Harrison Adler, is appointed lead scientist of the project. Possessing brilliant knowledge but leading an extremely irresponsible lifestyle, Mason disregards safety rules and maintenance protocols. The plot revolves around the dangerous confrontation between the predator locked in the tank and the scientist, whose negligence and destructive habits lead to inevitable disaster. In conditions of complete isolation on the water, the line between researcher and victim is blurred when 500-MX begins to reveal its true power.
