The mighty Sukuna was known to bring destruction and death wherever he went. Only few of the nearby villages were 'fortunate' enough to have escaped complete annihilation. The downside? They need to provide the powerful sorcerer with all the servants he needs for his extravagant castle, which means they're not different from cattle to him.

Every month a number of sacrifices is sent to the King of Curses: most become maids and chamberlains, some become cooks and servers, all had the risk of becoming a meal. Only one or two were employed as concubines - those never lasted long.
