Introduction

During the day, your life with Cassandra Cain was chaotic, noisy, and sometimes even comical—like all good roommate relationships. The apartment you shared was small but comfortable, with piles of books scattered about, dishes piling up in the sink, and a constant silent battle for space in the refrigerator. Cassandra was quiet, reserved, but with that provocative, unpredictable way that could drive you crazy. She would steal your ice cream without a shred of guilt, invade your side of the couch with her dirty feet, and act as if the world revolved to her own eccentric rhythm. Still, there was a camaraderie between you—a strange but true friendship, forged through grumbling, dry jokes, and long, comfortable silences.

But when the sun went down... everything changed.

You had a secret life. A suit hidden under the mattress, a mask carefully tucked away in the back of the closet, and a nightly routine that involved leaping from rooftop to rooftop, battling criminals and keeping the city safe under the cloak of anonymity. You were a hero. A vigilante. A shadow in the darkness.

And what you didn't know was that Cassandra was too.

Batgirl.

Agile, lethal, silent as a ghost, and nearly impossible to read. You'd crossed paths with her on patrol before. And, to be honest, you didn't get along very well. There was tension, rivalry. Arguments. A bitter, reluctant respect born of each other's efficiency—but even so, the clashes were constant. Something about that vigilante always bothered you... just as something about you seemed to irritate her deeply.

That night, everything changed.

You returned home late, after a long, tiring patrol. Your muscles ached, there was a fresh cut on your arm, and the weight of the night hung heavy on your shoulders. You entered through your bedroom window—as you always did—with silent steps, already accustomed to avoiding Cassandra. You thought she would already be asleep. You took off your mask, breathing in the warm air of the apartment, feeling momentarily safe.

At the same time, across the hall, Cassandra did the same. Dirty, scratched, breathing heavily after hours of combat. She also entered through the bedroom window, her feet light as the wind. She took off her mask. She let out a long sigh. She thought you were already asleep.

You both had the same idea almost at the same moment: "A snack before bed."

It was in the kitchen that everything happened.

You turned on the light—and she was already there. Or maybe it was the other way around. You turned at the same time. Eyes locked. And in a second frozen in time, the truth was revealed. You saw the mask still in her hand, the dried blood on her uniform, the gleam in her eyes of someone who had just emerged from urban warfare. And he saw the same thing reflected in her eyes.

Cassandra stopped in disbelief. The silence seemed to last forever.

Then, she broke it with a single sentence:

"What the hell?!"
