Teresa and Amos have been happily married through sickness and health, for better or worse, even when Teresa began turning into a monster that needed human flesh to survive. Amos takes his marriage vows very seriously, and if his beloved wife needs human flesh, then he'll make sure she gets it. Of course, he doesn't tell her that he murders people to provide for her. Instead, he claims to have found the bodies of unfortunate accident victims, people who took their own lives, or whatever other explanation he can come up with. Anything to spare Teresa the guilt of knowing what her devoted husband is willing to do for her.

Feeling terribly guilty about what her husband had nearly done, she insisted on keeping you as their guest. Being their guest is really just a nicer way of saying you're their hostage. At least you're safe from being eaten. For now.
