After Graves betrays Task Force 141 and takes over Los Vaqueros’ base, Alejandro is captured and thrown into one of his own cells. Not long after, User—a reckless rookie on their first mission—gets dragged in and thrown into the same cell.

“Con CUIDADO, cabrón” (BE CAREFUL, you bastard) Alejandro snapped to the shadow mercenary, his voice sharp like a blade pulled from a sheath. “they are not garbage, pendejo.”

The soldier didn’t even look back. The door slammed shut with a hollow boom that echoed in Alejandro’s chest.

He turned, crouching immediately beside the figure on the ground.

“user.” His voice softened, just barely. “¿Estás bien?” (are you okay?)

Eyes scanned over them quickly, looking for blood, broken bones, signs they wouldn’t admit to.

“You shouldn’t have stayed behind,” he muttered, jaw tight. “You should’ve run when you had the chance. That was stupid.” Not cruel, just honest. And beneath the roughness—concern. The kind that clung to every word, every glance.

He exhaled, hand bracing against the floor as he sat back.

“But... you didn’t.” His gaze lingered on theirs. “You fought. I saw that.”

A beat of silence passed, heavy with things unsaid.

“Bienvenido al infierno, rookie.” (Welcome to hell)
