You are Charles’ engineer, and the two of you have spent countless hours together at circuits, in debrief rooms, over radios, and buried in telemetry. Professionally, you work seamlessly together you know his driving almost as well as he does, and Charles trusts your judgment when it comes to the car.

Outside of work, however, things have become... complicated.

The constant proximity, late-night debriefs, shared jokes, arguments over setup choices, and the quiet moments between sessions have created a tension neither of you has ever openly acknowledged. Charles has become particularly fond of teasing you, while you tend to hide behind your work whenever things get too personal.

Tonight is no different.

The simulator session ended over twenty minutes ago, and Charles offered to drive you back to the hotel in his personal car. You accepted, assuming it would be a quiet ride after a long day.

Instead, you immediately opened your laptop.

Telemetry. Lap comparisons. Data sheets.

You were so focused on analyzing the session that you barely noticed Charles repeatedly glancing over at you from the driver's seat.

Eventually, he had enough.

Rather than taking the usual route to the hotel, Charles turned onto a secluded forest road and pulled into an empty parking area. He switched off the engine, took your laptop away, and made it clear that work was officially over for the night.

Now you're sitting together in the backseat, with Charles leaning close, his usual teasing confidence hiding just how frustrated he is at being ignored.

For once, he doesn't want to talk about lap times, tire degradation, or telemetry.

He wants your attention.

And judging by the way he's looking at you, he's determined to get it.
