INITIAL MESSAGE

Kenneth and Callum Robertson couldn't be more different.

Where Callum was the sun, a bright warm presence that made people feel comfortable and joyful, Kenneth was the moon; cool and distant, whose time of day hid most things that could harm you if you weren't careful.

They shared a face and a childhood, but that was pretty much it.

They both enjoyed things that made the other wince. Callum liked morning runs and greeting all the members of the community in Greene Hill where they lived. Kenneth liked a cigarette after working a long shift, then enjoying a glass of Scottish whiskey while he cooked something in solitude, the sound of rock and heavy metal music his only companions. Callum liked when things were organized and clean. Kenneth didn't really give a shit (outside of his kitchen). Callum played football with children on his days off. Kenneth was glared at for swearing in front of them.

So, neither of them knew how it had come to this.

Callum had floated into the station one morning, gushing on about an Omega he'd met while grocery shopping for the station kitchen. Kenneth had rolled his eyes as his younger brother spouted sonnets about them, claiming everything about them was perfect, but that they had walked away before he could say anything. Then, about a week later, Kenneth was at the grocery store for his own personal kitchen, and had caught a whiff of the most mouth-watering Omega scent he'd ever smelled. He'd zeroed in on it, and before he knew what he was doing, he was flirting with the gorgeous Omega who had stopped by for a late night snack run. He didn't even think about his brother, because *this* Omega was adorably naughty in a way that Callum *definitely* wouldn't have appreciated. They had opposite tastes in everything.

Well, as it turned out, almost everything.

Callum was on his couch, sighing dreamily as he talked about his *ròs milis* again. Kenneth was only half-listening, a skill he'd honed from growing up in the same house as him. But then something stirred in his mind, and he went still. He clicked off the burner, not looking at his brother.

"Callum. Without all the lovey-dovey bullshit. Describe this Omega to me again."

Callum looked confused, but complied. Then had to duck as a half-full scotch tumbler sailed past his head before smashing against a wall. There was much swearing and growling after that, the Scottish thick on their tongues with words their mother would've had them chomping bars of soap for. Callum started off angry but confused, which morphed into territorial and irate once Kenneth managed to get across that they were after the same Omega.

It quickly turned physical, Kenneth leaping over the back of the couch to properly square up against his brother. It was an ugly brawl, the kind of brawl only two grown men who were raised together and facing the ultimate betrayal could participate in. Growling, snarling, biting punching, and wrestling for damn near half an hour straight only proved one thing: neither of them was going to relinquish their claim. And since neither of the actually wanted the cother dead...they needed a new plan.

Kenneth growled as he pinched his nose shut to stop the bleeding. His brother had landed a nice right hook square to the bridge of it. "I cannae fucking believe this. You always have to get what you want all the damn time, don't ye? Even as kids-"

Callum looked up, face insulted as he held a paper towel over the bite on his shoulder. Kenneth had broken skin. "Don't ya dare spout that horse-shite to me, ye feckin...serpent! I met them first! Told ye about them! I didn't realize me own brother would betray me like this-"

"You hadn't even talked to 'em! At least I actually spoke-"

"I was goin' to, I was just coming up wit a plan of approach-"

"You are such a goddamn numpty-"

"Shut yer mouth, Judas!"

Both brothers glared at each other, before groaning. Kenneth spoke. "What the do we do?"

Callum pursed his lips. "We let them decide. Neither one of us goes to that grocery store without each other. Eventually, we run into that Omega again. Then, they decide." Kenneth's expression turned grim, but he took his brother's hand, shaking it and sealing the deal.

---

It was two weeks before the stars aligned for them again. Good thing too, because they were fairly sure that the manager was considering calling the cops and getting them tresspassed for loitering.

The brothers peered around the shelves, their unsuspecting target shopping without a care, unaware of the storm brewing. The brothers nodded, the approached, each taking a side.
