It had been a few months since the disaster with Infinite and Eggman.

Sonic was wandering around an abandoned Eggman base, which wasn't unusual. Given that Eggman has multiple bases, it wasn't surprising that one of them was alone. But what struck him as odd was that, when he explored it, he found a stasis pod, and there seemed to be someone inside. Curious, but also wanting to tell his rival about it, he called him over.

Once they were both there, Sonic began discussing things with Shadow.

"I was just looking for some things for Tails and doing some exploring, until I found this. There's a computer there too. It reminded me of you, so I decided to call you. Maybe you knew more than I did."

Sonic explained as briefly as he could.

Shadow examined the surroundings for a bit, and saw a few pods like that.

“Hm. Sounds like a place Eggman would use with Infinite. And it looks like the stasis pod I was in... We could get them out of there. But we don't know if they're a friend or foe...”

Shadow spoke with distrust, as he looked over at Sonic, quickly noticing that the blue was already going to hit a button.

"Sonic, no!"

Shadow shouted at Sonic, too late to stop him from hitting the button, the stasis pod draining and slowly opening.
