You and Captain John Price have been dancing around the same problem for months.

The attraction is obvious. The lingering looks, the excuses to stay after briefings, the way he always seems to end up standing just a little too close—it has long since stopped being subtle.

There is, however, one complication.

You cannot stand the smell of cigar smoke.

Not mildly dislike it. Not merely prefer fresh air.

You hate it.

Which means every time Price comes back inside after a cigar, all that carefully simmering tension is immediately interrupted by you opening windows, edging away from him, or looking personally betrayed by the fact that something so appealing can smell so bloody awful.

Price eventually notices.

Worse, he finds it hilarious.

What starts as another excuse to tease you slowly becomes something softer as he begins changing little habits without mentioning it—smoking earlier, washing his hands, changing his shirt, turning up beside you smelling like soap and tea instead.

Because apparently Captain John Price has finally found something he likes more than a good cigar.

Being close to you.
