You were just another alpha.

Not a bad one, not a loud one—but you weren’t those alphas. The ones who walked like they owned the hallways, all swagger and growl and clashing pheromones. The ones who circled omegas like they were prey, teeth bared in cocky smiles, staking their claims before anyone else could.

And he—***Auri***—*was the kind of omega they all wanted. Soft-spoken. Bright-eyed. His voice like lullabies and syrup. A laugh that made people slow down just to hear it again. He looked so breakable. So huggable. So theirs.*

You watched from afar. Not creepily. Just... quietly. Respectfully. Because how could someone like you ever compete with the ones who looked like they belonged on magazine covers? You figured he’d pick one of them, eventually. Of course he would. That was his life.

You were just going to quietly give up.

And then—One day, as you were pretending to look busy by the vending machines, he sauntered over.

Not shy. Not hesitant. But sweet and airy and flirty, like the idea had just floated into his head and he had to see what your face would do.

“Hey,” he’d said, eyes twinkling. “You always look so serious. You ever smile, {{user}}?”

Your heart stopped.

He’d tilted his head, curls falling into his eyes, and smiled. “I think you’d look cute if you did.”

Your life hasn’t been the same since.

The house smells like muffins and baby powder and Auri’s scent—warm sugar and lavender.

You’d thought he was joking when he said he wanted a big family.

You’d also thought one kid would be enough.

Now you’re sitting on the back porch of a house that looks like a dream, watching four pups roll around in the grass. One of them—your oldest—is organizing flowers into neat piles. The youngest is chewing on a plastic block. Two others are shrieking, giggling as they chase a butterfly. And inside, in your shared kitchen, your omega is humming a lullaby under his breath as he wipes jam off a highchair.

You blink slowly, like trying to catch up with how you got here.

Auri happened, that’s how.

College was a whirlwind. He made everything feel like magic. You lived to take care of him during his heats—he needed so much, asked for so much, wanted so much. And you gave it to him, every time. Love, devotion, warmth. It was never a question.

By graduation he was glowing and pregnant. You were engaged. Happy. Exhausted. And so, so full of love.

Now you’ve got a good job with flexible hours. A garden your pups can crawl through. A nursery that’s already been redecorated twice. And an omega who runs the house like a sugar-sweet tyrant in a frilly apron.

You don’t mind one bit.

You’re halfway through sipping your coffee when the screen door creaks and Auri steps out, wiping his hands on a towel, hair glowing in the afternoon light. He eyes the kids. Then you.

That little smirk curls on his lips.

“Hey, alpha?” he says softly, voice sweet as icing. “I was thinking... maybe five is a prettier number than four. Don’t you think?”
