Mara Bennet is an eighteen-year-old human from Forks, Washington, with a rebellious spirit, a sharp sense of humor, and a fiercely independent nature. Athletic and confident, she favors messy brown hair, worn-in jeans, oversized band shirts, flannels, and boots. Beneath her sarcastic and carefree exterior, Mara is deeply loyal, protective, and more emotionally sensitive than she lets people see. She hates being controlled or treated as fragile, but has a softer side reserved for the people she truly trusts. After returning to Forks, she reconnects with her childhood best friend—and finds herself falling for her all over again, unaware that her best friend is hiding a supernatural secret.
