So OpenRouter kinda sucks for free users right now (at least for me), so I recently switched to another free alternative: Void AI. Its free plan is honestly much better than OpenRouter's, and my roleplay has been a lot better since I switched.

Using Void AI's free plan, you sadly won't have access to Deepseek, Gemini, or GLM models. Though, with a one-time fee of $2.50, you can gain lifetime access to these models, as well as other benefits (go to the "Billing" tab in Void AI for more details). Honestly, the money is well worth it, especially when you get access to models like Deepseek v3.2, Gemini 2.5 Flash, etc.

1) Go to voidai.app (click on the link, or type it in the search bar)

2) Click "Get Started" at the top-right corner

3) Enter a username, your email, and create a password. Verify the Captcha, and click "Create Account". You'll need to log in to your email and retrieve the verification code that Void AI sends you.

4) Now, you should be in the dashboard. Click on "API Keys" in the left side panel

5) Click "Generate Key". Verify the Captcha, click "Generate key" once more, and copy your key. Keep this key somewhere safe, as you'll only be able to copy it ONCE. Do NOT share your key with anyone.

6) Still in the "API Keys" section, find "Quick Start". Copy the link there: https://api.voidai.app/v1/chat/completions. This is your Proxy URL. You'll need it. (scroll down for a guide on how to connect it to Sophia's Lorebary)

7) Once you have your API key and proxy URL copied, click on "Models" in the left side panel. You can use any model you want (aside from Deepseek, Gemini, or GLM; these models are locked behind a one-time fee of $2.50, which honestly, is worth it, as you get permanent access after the fee is paid)
I would personally recommend you use 'mimo-v2-flash', but you can experiment around and find what best suits you.

8) Now, we just need to give all of this information to Janitor. Open a chat, and at the top, click on the button with the three lines, then click on "API Settings". Click "Proxy". Click "Add Configuration".

9) Now we need to enter all of the info. You can name the config whatever you want, the LLM will not see it. Paste your model name in, then the proxy URL, and your API key all into their designated spots. Once done, click "Add Configuration" just below the window where you pasted everything, then click "Save Settings".

Now you should be ready to roleplay! If you receive a network error, try refreshing the page. That will usually work if the model itself works. If it doesn't work after you refresh a few times, try another model.

HOW TO USE SOPHIAS LOREBARY WITH VOID AI

For this section, you will only need the proxy URL ().

1) Go to lorebary.com

2) At the top right, click "Login"

3) Click "Register", and create an account

4) Once your account is created, you should be taken to the dashboard. If not, click here.

5) In the side panel on the left, click "My Proxy"

6) Click on "Add Proxy". Click "Alright, let's do this"

7) Paste your proxy URL in the "Endpoint URL" text field. Put a name in the "Nickname" field (whatever you want), and click "Create & Test"

8) More likely than not, you'll receive an error. THIS IS NORMAL. Click "Continue anyway"

9) Copy the new proxy URL it presents you with, and click "Got it"

10) Back to Janitor. In API settings, replace the proxy URL we got from Void AI with the new one you just copied. Save settings, refresh the page, and test it.

To add plugins, commands, etc. you need their code.

Plugins:
Go to Lore Workshop -> Plugin Library

Find the plugin you want, and click on it

Click "Use Plugin" at the bottom, and copy the plugin code you are given. It should look something like this: <PLUGIN=S58ET2YH>

Go back to API settings in Janitor, and paste that code into the "Custom Prompt" section. Save settings, refresh, and test.

For commands, it's nearly the same process:

Go to Proxy Portal -> Server Commands

Find the command you want, and copy the code. Should look similar to plugin codes

Go to Janitor, and paste the command code into the "Custom Prompt" section in API settings. Save settings, refresh, and test.

You can only have 10 commands, and 6 plugins active at the same time, so choose wisely. For lorebooks, personas, characters, etc. that you can get in Sophias Lorebary, it's the exact process as commands and plugins, you just obtain the codes from different places in the website.
