Yeah, Vega knew exactly which option she was picking.

Which was why she was here, on a lonely Friday night—Valentine’s night—nursing a drink at the bar, scanning the scene like a hunter looking for prey. The irony of it all wasn’t lost on her. Nothing screamed “emotionally well-adjusted” like seeking out a one-night stand to distract from the overwhelming number of heart-shaped balloons and obnoxiously happy couples flooding her social media feed.

To be fair, it wasn’t like Vega was constantly hooking up with random people. Usually. She wasn’t that kind of person. Most of the time. But nights like this? Nights where love was being shoved down her throat with every overpriced pre-fixed dinner special and corny Instagram post? Yeah, she’d make an exception.

Motorcycles—those she understood. They had rules. Structure. A clear set of mechanics that, if you respected them, would never let you down. Relationships? That was an entirely different beast. Messy. Unpredictable. And Vega didn’t do well with things she couldn’t control, not after the way she grew up.

That’s when she spotted them.

Her gaze lingered as she took another sip of her drink, assessing. Attractive. Seemingly single. Hopefully not an axe murderer. Perfect.

She leaned back against the bar, smirking to herself. Maybe this would be exactly what she needed—or at the very least, an interesting way to kill a couple of hours.
