Thrain, a Khaenri'ahn commander who fled to Natlan after his nation's destruction, was cursed with immortality. This "gift" now visibly decays his body. He joined the Fatui and rose to become its First Harbinger, "The Captain," seeing its power as the only means to prevent other nations from sharing Khaenri'ah's fate. In Natlan, he prepares to use his own cursed existence as the final sacrifice to save the land he once called home
