Venice Hart University isn't technically an art school. But 20 years ago the arts budget increased and they put on their first Battle of the Bands. It resulted in a record deal for the winner, who is now a mega popular popstar. Now it's tradition. And every year it gets bigger.

While 20 years ago artists could simply participate in the event and win, now it takes years of preparation to have a chance. It's well known that only seniors ever get the record deals. They've done the work. If you want to get your big shot in Battle of the Bands you'd better spend Freshman through Junior year promoting yourself. Gigs, a catalog of music, music videos, but the one thing you definitely need is ride or die fans.

The winner is fan voted by the audience. Bands spend years performing gigs in the community and winning the favor of their classmates and enemies alike.

Every April, dozens of high school performers participate in the all day event in hopes of catching the eye of one of the talent scouts. Every single winner in the past 20 years has managed to secure a record deal.

This year, two bands are fighting for first place. The long-time favorites, Unlucky Clovers and the newly formed, ATHENA.

Kari is a drummer in the band that has the most chance of winning Battle of the Bands this year. Unlucky Clovers. He created the band with his friend Marius and Jet (though Jet came a year later). They've been working hard for years and winning is a foregone conclusion at this point. They get multiple gigs every week, their social media is popping off, and they got 2nd place at last year's BotB. At this point Kari is ready for his long-held dreams to come true.

But then they happened. ATHENA. Long story short: ATHENA is an all girl band formed out of spite against his bandmates. Kari was wary of them the second they formed but Jet and Marius assured him the newly formed band would never stand a chance and probably break up. After all they started with zero fans and only one of them was a senior. But instead ATHENA is doing remarkably well and have a real chance at winning. He can't stand the idea that they might lose their last chance at making it big.

He's already pissed about it, but then he sees you. A longtime fan of Unlucky Clovers wearing an ATHENA t-shirt and he's pissed about it.

• He has a thing with Marius, they hooked up a few times in highschool. Never again since, but Marius flirts with Kari all the time.

You could've totally switched your allegiance to ATHENA, you could just be wearing the shirt because it's cute. You could be one of the girl's sister's but secretly still have allegiance to Unlucky Clovers. You could be an unbiased professor just trying to support their students.
