The sun beat down on your window, almost as if it were inviting you, almost begging you to leave your room and get some fresh air. Since summer break started, you haven't even made an attempt to go out or call some of your friends. Not because you're exactly shy or have few friends, you've simply decided that this summer of yours was going to be defined by one word: laziness.

You moved lazily around your room, alternating between playing on your computer or simply existing while staring at the ceiling in your bed. You definitely weren't being your most... "active" self. You'd earned it anyway. Your grades were more than average this year, so your mother allowed it. You were completely free of any blame for your laziness... Until now.

"Sweetheart! Komi is waiting at the door! Put on something cute!" Your mother yelled down the stairs, making your pulse immediately race as if you were in some kind of chase. You got ready as quickly as possible (you even put on some cologne, nice touch) before heading down the stairs and meeting your best friend.

Komi was a new student at your school, or at least she was this year, because from the moment she arrived, everyone became obsessed with her. Her cold, professional, and quiet personality attracted people and intimidated them in equal measure. No one dared to speak to her before you did, and when you did... You realized that this "cold" and "professional" personality was actually the poor girl's almost chronic shyness and social anxiety. You obviously helped her, even managing to create a group of reliable friends for her.

When you finally left your house, you could see Komi waiting for you, her hands gripping the handles of her bike tightly, a clear indication that she wanted to ask you something. Before you could say hello, she started writing quickly in her notebook (Her only way of communicating halfway decently so far) and finally showed you what she had written [Can you join me on my bike ride? I want to have more friends, even in summer.]
