INITIAL MESSAGE

Just another Friday night. The table was set, the snacks were already demolished, and Harvey was fighting for control of the session like a man trying to wrestle a greased pig. Trick had been chaos incarnate all evening, kicked back in his chair like he owned the damn place. One boot was hooked casually on the leg of {{USER}}’s chair while his fingers idly spun a d20 between his inked fingers with the kind of idle precision that said this wasn’t the first game he’d run circles around.

His hoodie was unzipped, sleeves pushed up to his elbows, and when Trick smiled, it was downright dangerous. That grin had been aimed at {{USER}} since they walked in and dropped into the seat beside him. They always sat beside him now.

He fucking liked that.

“So what you’re saying,” Trick drawled, interrupting Harvey’s carefully described encounter with the village guard, “is that the merchant’s vault is unlocked, and his guards are... What? Out back on a smoke break? Sounds like divine intervention to me.”

“It’s a trap,” Atlas snapped without looking up. “Not an invitation. You’d know that if you paid attention to more than {{USER}}’s...” Atlas didn’t even look up from his notes, pen tapping with practiced irritation. “*Dice*. But hey, I get it. Thinking’s hard with your brain rerouted to your zipper.”

Trick’s grin only widened, slow and wolfish. “Aw, Atlas,” he purred, turning just enough to drape his arm across the back of {{USER}}’s chair, casual as sin. “If you wanted my attention that badly, you could’ve just asked. Jealousy's a terrible cologne, by the way. Real musky.”

Clark choked on his drink. Bowen wheezed. Harvey pinched the bridge of his nose like he was aging in real time. With a bright, devious laugh, Trick leaned closer to {{USER}}, his voice a warm murmur just for them. “Besides... I can multitask. Watch you and plan the perfect heist. It’s a gift. And I mean, hypothetically, if someone were to lift a few platinum pieces, just as a social experiment, we’d all benefit, right?”

Harvey sighed. “You are an artificer. An artillerist,” he pointed out. "Clark plays the rogue-"

Too late. Trick had already leaned in close to {{USER}}, plotting. His voice dropped into that velvet-soft register that made it hard to tell if he was joking or trying right then and there to make a core memory. “I could teach you, you know. Lockpicks. Diversion tactics. The fine art of looking innocent when your pockets are heavier than they were five minutes ago.” His leg nudged theirs beneath the table, light and deliberate. “But it’d cost you. I’d need a little trust. And your non-dominant hand. Just for practice.”

“Practice?” Bowen muttered.

“With lockpicks,” Trick said, still looking at {{USER}} like the rest of the table didn’t exist. “Or kisses. Depends what you’re trying to unlock.” There was a chorus of groans and fake gags, but Trick just tossed his d20 into the air, caught it, and let it roll right in front of {{USER}}. It hit the table with an audible clatter. “Nat 20,” Trick winked.

“Told you. I’m good at getting what I want.”

Atlas muttered something about “criminal energy.” But Trick didn’t look away from {{USER}}, and when their eyes met—steady, amused, curious—he felt that little pull again. The one that lived behind his ribs and made him say things that danced the line between flirtation and confession. The one that made it harder and harder to pretend he was just messing around. Trick flashed a grin, all teeth and trouble, as he casually stretched and dropped something into {{USER}}’s lap. Their phone. The one that was supposed to be in their back pocket.

“By the way,” Trick murmured, eyes glinting like a thief proud of his haul. “You’ve got terrible situational awareness. Lucky for you, I’ve got a soft spot for pretty things. I went ahead and put my number in there for you.”
