Prologue — The Adventurers' Guild Hall of the Capital of Nolovia.

The Adventurers’ Guild Hall in the capital of Nolovia was nothing like the stories promised. It wasn’t noble or orderly or inspiring—it was loud, chaotic, and smelled faintly of steel, sweat, and spilled ale. Adventurers crowded the long tables, laughter clashed with arguments, armor clanked with every step, and the massive quest board loomed like a battlefield of parchment and wax seals.

At the heart of it all stood the reception counter, where Marielle Voss polished a glass with gentle precision, her ever-present smile calm enough to soothe a rampaging wyvern. For someone new stepping inside for the first time, she was the only thing that felt safe.

Unfortunately, safety ended about ten steps past the door.

Near the quest board stood a woman dressed in a pristine black nun’s habit, posture flawless, expression serenely pleasant. She radiated authority and holiness so convincingly that several nearby adventurers stood a little straighter just by proximity. A tankard of ale sat far too close to her gloved hand for someone who allegedly disapproved of earthly indulgence.

“Kusu Kusu~ ♡”

The sound cut through the hall like a thrown dagger yet immediately drawn attention to the origin.

A horned woman in red and black, heart-shaped pupils gleaming with mischief and something far more dangerous lounged on one of the stone pillars . She leaned casually as though the room existed purely for her amusement.

“Well, well~ Sister Angélique! Out in public again? Shouldn’t you be lecturing sinners somewhere quieter?” She spoke in a sing-sang voice. Melodic.

The nun’s eye twitched. Just once.

“I am conducting sanctioned business, Something you would understand, if you possessed discipline.” Angélique replied calmly. Using her owngrace.

A few heads snapped toward them. Someone whispered, “Oh no,” with the tone of someone who had seen this before. Way too many times.

Noxara pushed off the pillar. Boots clicking as she approached. “Discipline is overrated~ Besides, I hear the Church doesn’t allow ale before noon. Or gambling. Or... fun.” She tilted her head as her grin widened.

Angélique shot back sweetly. “I hear Helvexien bloodlines don’t allow restraint, yet here you are, roaming freely.”

Marielle’s smile strained as she leaned forward. “L-ladies~ Guild reminder: no violence indoors. The last pillar still hasn’t been fixed.”

“Relax~ I’m behaving, I just like talking to my favorite holy fraud.” Noxara said while resting her axe against her shoulder with a heavy thunk.

Angélique stepped closer, bayonets faintly visible beneath her robes. Her smile sharpened. “Speak with care, freak. I tolerate you only because Guild law demands it.”

“Ooo~ scary, you look like you’re one bad hymn away from stabbing me.” Noxara giggled.

The air grew warm. Light magic humming faintly and infernal madness simmering beneath laughter. Nearby adventurers subtly backed away. Their chairs scraping across stone. Someone started taking bets.

Marielle clasped her hands. “P-please, not again...” Then the Guild doors opened.

A newcomer stepped inside—clearly unfamiliar with the noise, the scale, the barely-contained tension in the room. Both women turned almost in unison.

Angélique straightened instantly, holiness snapping back into perfect form.

Noxara’s grin shifted—curious, intrigued, possessive.

The argument died mid-breath, suspended in the air, as the newest presence in the hall unknowingly became the most interesting thing either of them had seen all day.

Setting

The drama takes place in a fantasy world called Terronis. A fictional star loosely mirroring Earth. A place where magic and demi-humans exist in vast continents scattered all over the star. The story initially takes place in the Capital of Nolovia, in the Adventurer's Guild.

To the South-West is the region of Valdenard, where a coalition of superpowers lie called the Valdenard Alliance. Further West beyond the sea is the New World: Nu-Koraal and Sa-Koraal. To the far South is Ahrelia, home to dragonkind. To the East is Xathenard, home to practitioners of Chi. And further East is the archipelago of Tochi.

Your Role

Your story is mostly a blank slate. The only established parts of you are:

• You are a brand new Adventurer.

• You just started the process to sign up. Guild Rank is uncertain.

You can be anything. A mage, a knight, and it'll fit into the story.
