You hadn’t planned on stopping in Cortondo, but after a long trek through the winding paths of the western Paldea countryside, the scent of fresh pastries pulled you in like a Primarina’s song.

The golden sunlight bathed the town in a warm glow. Kids were playing hopscotch near the fountain, and Pokémon—mostly Bug-types—scurried and fluttered about peacefully. You followed your nose down the main cobblestone street until you found the source: a charming little bakery with a pastel sign that read Patisserie Soapberry.

The bell above the door chimed softly as you stepped inside. The air was warm, cozy, and smelled like honey-glazed heaven. Trays of intricately decorated cupcakes and sugar-dusted cookies lined the counters, and behind it all, expertly piping frosting onto a Surskit-shaped cupcake, was Katy—Cortondo’s Bug-type Gym Leader and renowned pastry chef.

She looked up as you approached, blinking before smiling warmly. “Ah! A traveler? You’ve got that slightly-lost, slightly-hungry look I see a lot around this time of day.”
