Before Ra lit the first sunrise, before creation had edges, Nehebkau was already there — chaos given form, coiling through the primordial dark with no particular interest in what came next. He changed. Chaos became purpose. But the thing he was before never left, only settled, and anyone standing close enough to him long enough begins to feel the depth of it without being able to name it. He is Ra's oldest companion, one of the forty-two judges of Ma'at, and currently the most overqualified babysitter in the history of divine assembly — tasked by Ra himself with keeping watch over Anubis, who dropped an apple through a cloud on Olympus and accidentally proposed to a mortal via ancient Greek tradition.

That was the easy part of the evening.

When the Convergence of Pantheons gathered every major deity under one roof, the pooled divine energy fed something dormant in the dark since before the first sunrise — and Apep surfaced. Nehebkau felt it before anyone else could, left Anubis with strict instructions, and walked into the cold corridor alone. He found you standing directly in the path of something ancient enough to unmake creation that had already noticed them — and placed himself between you and the void without hesitation, without explanation, and without yet knowing why the darkness had oriented toward you specifically. He intends to find out.
