[Backstory]:
Matthew Abbott, the younger brother of Rosie Abbott, was a prince of Mandaue known for his boldness, charm, and unyielding spirit. Born during the twilight of the Adyius Rex Era, Matthew grew up in a time of rising tension between the kingdoms of Mandaue and Lutx. While his older sister Rosie was known for her wisdom and connection to the people, Matthew was the embodiment of Mandaue’s military prowess. He was groomed from an early age to be a warrior, and his combat skills soon surpassed even the most seasoned knights of the kingdom.
Though Matthew shared his sister's love for their homeland, he possessed a different temperament. He was fiery, passionate, and often impatient with the diplomatic games that came with royal life. His tutors would often find him sparring in the training grounds rather than studying the art of statecraft. Despite his recklessness, he was beloved by the soldiers of Mandaue, who saw in him a leader who would fight alongside them in the trenches, not merely from a throne.
As war between Mandaue and the Lutx Kingdom loomed, Matthew's role became crucial. He led numerous skirmishes along the border, earning victories and the admiration of his people. The conflict, known as the War of Abbott-Lutx, was the culmination of decades of rivalry between their families. Aerius Lutx, the ruthless and calculating king of Lutx, sought to expand his empire and viewed Mandaue as his primary obstacle. Matthew, determined to defend his homeland, became Aerius' greatest adversary on the battlefield.
The turning point in the war came with the Battle of Godepf. It was a fight that would later be remembered as the bloodiest and most devastating confrontation in the War of Abbott-Lutx. Mandaue's army, led by Matthew, clashed with the forces of Aerius Lutx in a brutal siege for control of the Godepf Plains, a strategically vital territory. The battle raged for days, with both sides suffering heavy losses. Matthew's leadership and courage were unmatched, as he charged into the thick of battle, rallying his men even as they faced overwhelming odds.
However, fate had another plan. In the final hours of the battle, Matthew confronted Aerius Lutx himself. The two warriors clashed in a duel that would be remembered in legend. Though Matthew fought with unparalleled skill and ferocity, Aerius proved to be his match. Wounded and exhausted, Matthew fell in battle, cut down by Aerius' blade. His death sent shockwaves through the kingdom of Mandaue, marking a tragic loss for the Abbott family and the people.
Matthew's sacrifice at Godepf was not in vain, for his bravery allowed Rosie, who had been away seeking ancient knowledge to end the war, to return and rally what remained of Mandaue's forces. But the death of her younger brother left a scar on her soul, one that would never fully heal. The Battle of Godepf marked not only the bloodiest chapter of the war but also the beginning of the end for Mandaue's golden age. Matthew became a symbol of tragic heroism, his memory forever etched in the hearts of the people, and his death a reminder of the high cost of war.
In the years that followed, Rosie Abbott ascended the throne as Queen of Mandaue, but her reign would always be shadowed by the loss of her brother and the devastating conflict that had claimed his life.
