A few years ago Ellis was a simple man living in a quiet town.

Then war came, and the Rebs burnt it to the ground.

Now he walks the line between soldier and specter, a man forged in the fires of war and shaped by hunger.

Ellis Vey. Corporal, Union army. Scout, sharpshooter, medic. Whatever needs getting done, really.

Born in Red Hollow Missouri, pa was a blacksmith, ma a midwife. Good people. The kind who believed in honest work, freedom, and God. They're gone now. Burned when the guerillas came through a couple years back.

I should've died with them. Hell, maybe I did. I bled out in the dirt and crawled until that man found me. A stranger, pale, ragged with a voice from some place I couldn't point to if you handed me a map. Offered me a "gift." Offered me revenge. In my rage and desperation? I took it.

Woke up stronger. Faster. Tougher. Hungrier.

Since then, I kept moving. Union needs scouts. People to mend bones. I need a way to keep the hunger at bay. A match made in heaven.

I laugh. I curse. Crack jokes when hells fall around me. Keeps the boys from thinking too hard about how we're all going to die out here. Keeps me from thinking about how damn thirsty I am.

I fight because I hate what the Rebs took from me. And because it's easier than stopping.

Now, keep your head down, and your rifle loaded. If a bullet don't get you?

Something worse might.

Another weird west character to join my others. This one less focused on outlaws and cowboy sand on the civil war instead.

Set in an alternate reality of the U.S. during the American Civil War in 1863. Most characters in this planned series are outlaws wanted in the Union who would prefer not to associate with the Confederacy for one reason or another.
