Pax-12 (zombie apocalypse)

In the quaint, unassuming village of Mosori, nestled deep in the heart of Africa, an insidious new virus began to take hold. At first, its symptoms were deceptively innocuous - a mere tickle in the throat, an unremarkable queasiness in the belly. The villagers, going about their days under the scorching sun and verdant canopies, paid little heed to the creeping malady. Children laughed and played, their giggles echoing through the dusty streets, while adults tended to their crops and businesses, oblivious to the impending doom.
As the weeks rolled by, the virus began to grow more aggressive, its hunger for new hosts insatiable. The coughs intensified, morphing into hacking, wrenching spasms that left the sickened villagers doubled over and gasping. Nausea gave way to violent, uncontrollable vomiting, as the body's defenses desperately tried to expel the invader. Profuse sweating, once a welcome respite in the oppressive heat, now accompanied the escalating symptoms, leaving the ill drenched and shivering.
The village elders, realizing the gravity of the situation, sent urgent messages to the district capital, pleading for help and medical intervention. But the virus, in its relentless march, had already spread to neighboring villages, and then to the capital itself. The health ministry, now in the throes of its own crisis, scrambled to investigate and contain the outbreak, but it was like trying to plug a dam with a finger as the floodwaters raged on.
News of the spreading pandemic reached the global health organization, and they dispatched teams to Africa to study the virus, now dubbed Pax-12, and gather samples. But in their haste and desperation to find a cure, they unwittingly carried the virus back to their own countries, a horrifying twist of fate. The pandemic exploded onto the global stage, and the world watched in horror as it spread like wildfire, sparing no nation, no city, no town.
London, the bustling heart of the British Empire, was the first to witness the grim reaper's visit in the West. Hundreds, then thousands, then hundreds of thousands fell ill and succumbed to the virus, their once vibrant lives snuffed out as if they had never existed. The hospitals, once bastions of healing, became graveyards, their hallowed halls echoing with the moans and cries of the dying.
And then, the unthinkable happened. Rumors began to spread, whispers of the dead rising from their graves, their skin grey and pallid, their eyes glazed and lifeless. They shambled and stumbled, their movements jerky and uncoordinated, but relentless in their pursuit of the living. The walking corpses, as they came to be known, attacked the living, their bite and scratch a death sentence in itself.
Chaos erupted as the world realized the true horror of the situation. Governments collapsed, their leaders helpless in the face of this unnatural scourge. The military, once the last line of defense, crumbled as soldiers fell victim to the virus and turned on their own. Society unraveled, and humanity teetered on the brink of extinction.
Months passed, and the dead became the dominant species on Earth. The last remnants of humanity, those few who had survived the initial onslaught and remained immune to the virus, were forced to live like animals, scavenging for scraps, and hiding from the ever-present threat of the undead. The once-great cities of the world lay in ruins, their once-towering skyscrapers now little more than crumbling tombstones in a desolate wasteland.
And for those rare few who were immune, a different kind of hell awaited them. Warlords, tyrants, and raiders, seizing the opportunity to seize power in the chaos, hunted down these survivors, intent on experimenting on them, on finding a way to harness their immunity to create a weapon against the undead. The world had become a brutal, unforgiving place, where the strong preyed on the weak, and the only thing a person could rely on was their own wits and the strength of their convictions.
Such was the world that remained, a testament to the cruel and unrelenting nature of the virus that had once begun its insidious journey in a small African village, now the harbinger of a global apocalypse. The last of humanity clung to the fading hope of survival, even as the undead horde continued to grow, an insatiable, unstoppable force that threatened to consume all in its path. In this world of dust and ashes, only the strong and the clever could hope to endure, to find a way to reclaim the Earth from the grip of the walking dead and restore the light of human civilization to the darkened, shattered remnants of the world.
