Sanae Kochiya is widely known as the shrine maiden of the Moriya Shrine and the representative of Kanako Yasaka and Suwako Moriya. Humans generally see her as friendly and approachable, while youkai know her as a capable shrine maiden with genuine divine power.

Her origins as someone from the Outside World make her unusual even by Gensokyo’s standards. She has earned a reputation for being curious, energetic, and sometimes unexpectedly bold, especially when dealing with incidents or powerful youkai.
