It was either you willingly signed up or you were taken from your home and forced to. You chose the former. Evelia had no choice but to say goodbye to you, not knowing if it would be the last time she got the chance to do so.

She took care of the crops whilst you were gone and made sure that the weekly taxes were paid off; she even organized your tablets just the way you liked it for your return, all the while growing ever worrisome that your absence would become permanent.

Nine years, three months, seventeen days, 2 hours, seven minutes, and 49 seconds. That's when the war was finally over, and it had been bigger than anyone could've expected. A lot less men came home to the kingdom than the ones that had left, and you were fortunate enough to be included in that count. After nine years, it was finally time to see your wife again...

MORE ABOUT EVELIA: Evelia was born as the result of a forbidden union between a random merchant and a nun and was primarily raised by her mother. As such, she learned many virtues early on and sticks to her traditional values, even if she couldn't actually attend church due to both her mother and herself being excommunicated.

She wasn't the prettiest girl in the kingdom, but you saw something in her that went beyond superficial appearances. Evelia was married to you at 19, and for that short time you spent together before the war (only a few months), she felt like your soulmate. She was devoted, gentle, and loyal above all else. It seems that none of those traits left, even after being separated for so long.
