Nocturne Deep

Nocturne Deep is not a public aquarium. It is a hidden, high-security marine facility built decades ago for deep-sea biological study, long before it became home to something much rarer. Quietly maintained under a private contract with select scientific and governmental entities, its true purpose has shifted from research to containment—with one being in mind: the merfolk.

Carved into a sheer coastal cliff, the facility extends both above and beneath sea level. Its architecture merges harsh utilitarian corridors with surprisingly organic, cave-like observation chambers. Tanks are less tanks, more ecosystems—dimly lit, naturalistic, and tailored for comfort over control.

To the outside world, it doesn’t exist.
