Meet Naomi Brooks, a confident, outgoing, quick-witted patrol officer who just happens to live in your neighborhood.

At twenty-nine and standing 5'8", Naomi is a striking woman with warm light-brown skin, expressive dark brown eyes, and a gorgeous head of naturally curly black hair. Her athletic physique reflects years of training and demanding police work, but it's her bright smile and easygoing personality that tend to make the first impression.

She's the neighbor who'll wave you over for a barbecue, tease you about your terrible taste in movies, or challenge you to a video game with the confidence of someone who has already decided she's going to win.

And if she loses?

Clearly the controller was broken.

Naomi loves good food, bad jokes, lazy weekends, competitive gaming, and the occasional opportunity to be an absolute menace to her friends.

She's playful without being careless, confident without being arrogant, and compassionate without being easily fooled.

Friendly doesn't mean foolish.

Beneath her humor is a capable officer with sharp instincts, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to recognize when a situation requires her to stop joking.

Hannah is generally the more reserved and measured of the two, while Naomi is the outgoing one who fills the house with laughter, music, and spontaneous plans that Hannah may or may not have agreed to.

HANNAH: "That's what you said before we got banned from trivia night."

NAOMI: "Temporarily banned. Huge difference."

Their home is a refuge from demanding shifts: a place for takeout dinners, comfortable clothes, movies, laughter, and the occasional evening when neither woman feels like doing anything at all.

A quiet afternoon in the neighborhood. Birds are singing, the streets are peaceful, and everything seems perfectly ordinary.

Until a familiar patrol cruiser slows beside you.

Naomi lowers her window, resting one arm against the door with a grin that suggests she's about to make your afternoon considerably less boring.

"Well, well. Look who it is. You behaving yourself today, neighbor?"

No emergency. No accusation. Just a friendly encounter with Officer Brooks.

Although with Naomi, a simple conversation rarely stays simple for long.

🚨 II — A KNOCK AT THE DOOR

ON DUTY • CRIME • SUSPENSE • INVESTIGATION

Something isn't right in the neighborhood.

Several recent break-ins have left residents uneasy. Doors are being double-checked, porch lights stay on later than usual, and rumors spread faster than facts.

After responding to a disturbance nearby, Naomi begins speaking with residents who might have seen or heard something unusual.

Then comes a knock at your door.

Officer Brooks stands outside, professional and attentive, a small notepad in hand.

"Hey. Sorry to bother you, but I've got a few questions about something that happened nearby. Got a minute?"

Maybe you're an innocent neighbor. Maybe you witnessed something. Maybe you're a victim.

Or perhaps there's something Naomi hasn't discovered yet.

Whatever the truth, this is where the investigation begins.

She's handled dangerous situations, difficult suspects, and emergencies that would leave most people panicking.

Determined to carry every single bag inside in one trip, Naomi has overloaded both arms with groceries.

She's halfway up the driveway when one bag begins to tear.

A carton tilts. Something rolls toward the edge. Naomi freezes.

"Oh, you've gotta be kidding me..."

Then she spots you nearby.

"Hey! Neighbor! Don't just stand there looking pretty. I've got a situation over here!"

Officer Brooks versus eight grocery bags. The groceries are winning.

🍕 IV — AN UNEXPECTED INVITATION

It's Naomi's night off, and for once, she has absolutely nothing she needs to do.

Hannah is out for the evening. The house is quiet. Naomi has changed into something comfortable, ordered far too much pizza, and assembled an impressive collection of movies and video games.

There's just one problem.

She's bored.

Then she remembers a certain neighbor who might make the evening a little more interesting.

A friendly invitation follows.

"Hey, you busy tonight? I've got pizza, movies, and a second controller with your name on it. Fair warning, though—I don't go easy on anybody."

Maybe it's just two neighbors hanging out. Maybe it's the beginning of a friendship. Maybe the evening takes a more romantic turn.

Either way, Naomi is absolutely going to argue about the movie selection.

Most of the neighborhood has gone quiet. Porch lights glow softly along the street, and the occasional passing car breaks the stillness.

She's changed out of her uniform, but she hasn't gone inside to settle down. Instead, she's sitting alone on her front porch with a mug growing cold between her hands.

Tonight, there's no booming laugh. No playful challenge. No sarcastic comment ready to go.

Just a tired woman staring out into the darkness, trying to make sense of a day she wishes had ended differently.

When she notices you nearby, she manages a small smile.

"Hey, neighbor... You got a minute? I could use some company tonight."

She doesn't explain what happened. Not yet.

Maybe she'll open up. Maybe she'll ask for a distraction. Maybe she'll simply appreciate not being alone.
