Humanity has been dancing on vampire palms for the entirety of its short, brutal history. The ten Great Pureblood Houses are the architects of modernity, the shapers of history, and the closest thing this world has to masters. In the modern age, the vampires have never been more dominant—and the Sanguarchy has never been stronger.

THE PUREBLOOD HOUSES

In this scenario, there are 4 Houses to consider. The first is the exalted House Tianlong, which is an Exarch-rank bloodline that administers the entirety of East Asia (with a few notable exceptions). The second is House Yi, a Prince-level vassal of House Tianlong that controls the Korean Peninsula and Northeast China. The third and fourth are two Marquess-level vassals of House Yi that are being considered for promotion to dukedom—your House (House Nam) and that of your rival (House Hong).

THE SITUATION

Prince Yi Jeonghun has decided to enter his Eternal Rest. Before doing so, he is reorganizing the lands under his charge. Your house, House Nam, has served House Yi with undeniable distinction for the better part of a millennium, but fell from Pureblood status 600 years ago. As such, Prince Yi is poised to gift Seoul, the crown jewel of his territory, to the far less respected—yet still Pureblood—House Hong, which will promote them to ducal status and eventually allow them to rise to prince level. The Prince has called you into his office during his decennial business conference in order to tell you his final decision.

HOUSE NAM [2000-Year Marquess Bloodline]

Your bloodline. House Nam is one of the oldest vampire houses on the Korean Peninsula, dating to the Three Kingdoms period around 57 BCE and predating House Yi by nearly a millennium. They were originally Purebloods, overshadowing the early Yi family with their dominance and controlling the central Korean territories while serving as powerbrokers between the three kingdoms. During the Joseon Dynasty (1392), the Head of House fell in love with a human scholar's daughter and married her despite political consequences, diluting the bloodline forever and transforming them from Pureblood peers to mixed-blood subordinates in a single generation. For the 600 years since, they've served House Yi with perfect loyalty, albeit not from broken spirit but rather from pragmatic recognition that survival requires adaptation. They currently administer the Korean Demilitarized Zone from the former capital of the Goryeo dynasty, Kaesong, and maintain the Liaoning Province Industrial Corridor—the most challenging and strategically critical posting in House Yi's domain because the territory is split. As such, House Nam has grown to specialize in border management, crisis resolution, and industrial coordination across house territories.

House Nam carries the institutional memory of lost greatness, understanding Pureblood politics from the inside because they lived it for over nearly a millennium and a half before their fall. This offers unique advantages in predicting pureblood behavior, navigating court intrigue, and operating within the system's rules better than houses that were always subordinate. They've survived the last 600 years by being indispensable rather than decorative, taking on the hardest postings, and succeeding where Purebloods would fail.

HOUSE HONG [800-Year Marquess Bloodline]

Your rival's bloodline. House Hong pledged fealty to House Yi during the late Goryeo Dynasty around 1200 CE, establishing an unbroken 800-year tradition of Pureblood loyalty. They originated as military nobility defending the southeastern approaches against Japanese raids, positioning themselves as the martial shield of the peninsula. Through the Joseon Dynasty they transitioned from military leadership to administrative excellence, managing the region's agricultural production and later its industrialization. Today they specialize in automotive manufacturing, precision machinery, and advanced materials production, with influence over Hyundai's manufacturing operations and numerous supplier networks. Their territory is stable, prosperous, and well-established—the easiest posting in House Yi's domain.

House Hong administers the metropolitan center of Daegu and the southeastern manufacturing region of Korea, including major industrial cities and the approaches to Busan port. They represent old Korean pureblood nobility at its most traditional and believe deeply in blood purity, Confucian hierarchy, and the natural order of the Sanguarchy. The current generation, represented by Marchioness Hong Miyeon, considers themselves progressive and modern despite maintaining completely traditional views on blood purity and merit.

HOUSE YI [1000-Year Prince Bloodline]

House Yi traces its lineage to Goryeo court nobility around 918 CE. They rose to prominence during the Mongol invasions of the mid-1200s when they proved instrumental in maintaining Korean cultural identity while managing relations with the Yuan Dynasty. After House Nam's fall from status, House Yi established themselves as the Pureblood protectors of Korean language, customs, and Neo-Confucian principles through centuries of Chinese and Japanese influence. They survived the Joseon Dynasty, Japanese occupation, Cold War division, and emerged as the main architects of the modern Korean Peninsula. They successfully transitioned from managing traditional court politics to becoming the manufacturing heart of modern East Asia, with deep control over Samsung, LG, Hyundai, and major Chinese electronics firms in their northern territories. Their specialty is precision manufacturing, semiconductor production, and the integration of Korean innovation with Chinese industrial scale.

House Yi operates with Neo-Confucian principles emphasizing hierarchy, proper order, and deep emotional bonds (jeong). They report directly to Exarchissa Mei Tianlong but maintain considerable autonomy due to their proven competence in managing complex ethnic and political tensions while delivering industrial results.

HOUSE TIANLONG [3600-Year Exarch Bloodline] [AKA "The Dragon Throne"]

House Tianlong emerged from Shang Dynasty oracle bone diviner families around 1600 BCE, making them one of the three oldest Great Houses alongside Enlil and Sutekh. They positioned themselves as celestial intermediaries, claiming they could read and interpret heaven's will to guide emperors. Through the Zhou, Qin, Han, Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, they maintained power by being indispensable to whoever held the Mandate of Heaven, always acting as the advisors behind the throne rather than the throne itself. After surviving the fall of imperial China, they rose to economic power during the late Qing period, positioning themselves to dominate whatever system emerged next. Today they control manufacturing, technology, and rare earth elements across East Asia, with major influence over Huawei, Alibaba, Tencent, and countless state-owned enterprises through shell companies and collaborator families. Their territory represents the largest manufacturing base in human history.

House Tianlong's core territory is eastern and central China, with extended domain covering all of China, Mongolia, North Korea, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and parts of Southeast Asia including Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, eastern Myanmar, and Tibet. They face constant rivalry with Japanese pureblood houses that are powerful but not Exarch-level.
