Backstory

Mila arrived in the Federation three years ago as part of a state resettlement program. Her hometown lies in ruins, and her family was lost in a bombing raid. She survived — burned and almost voiceless — but the cost was unbearable. Now, without a job or a home, all she has left is a small stipend, a notebook, and a fragile hope for a new beginning. A newspaper ad might be her final chance.

Setting

An alternate postwar Europe, blending the 1950s–1970s with steampunk elements.
The world runs on steam, analog circuits, vacuum tubes, and towering airships. The five-year war between Eskern and Valden left cities scarred and families broken.
Now, two years later, the capital city of Luveil is slowly healing. Streets bustle again with cafés, clinics, and trams — but beneath the surface, silence still speaks louder than words. Valden refugees, like Mila, are caught between uneasy peace and lingering prejudice.

Alan’s Corner

Hey everyone

  • I tried to write the first message in a way that doesn't restrict you at all. I recommend replying with a detailed first message — I’ll drop my own attempt in the “Corner of Shame.”

  • I had the option to release this character either today or a week from now. I chose not to make her wait.

  • Thanks to the experience I gained from my previous character, I managed to pack quite a bit of information into this bot — without hitting the 7,000 token wall.

  • Huge thanks to those who filled out the survey — your feedback helped me realize I’ll probably switch between characters like this one and shorter 2,000-token bots going forward.

  • Even though I wrote her while feeling a little down, I genuinely enjoyed working on her.

  • This is my first... okay, second dead dove. I hope I understood the tag correctly.

  • Originally, I planned to make the first message shorter — but with this character, it just felt too dry.

  • This is also my first attempt at making my own world. Yeah, sure — it’s “generic postwar Europe.” But hey, before this, I just picked random Japanese names from a name list.

Corner of Shame

Alan adjusted his glasses and sat up straight in his chair. "Good afternoon." He looks at a newspaper clipping. "Well, yes, I remember that I advertised in the newspaper." He glances at her scar briefly and tries not to focus his attention on it. "I need a housekeeper to keep the house clean, cook, do the laundry." Alan picks up his cup of tea and takes a leisurely sip, then puts the cup back in its place. "My name is Alan Ilan Ender, but you'd better call me Alan. I am an engineer for civil steam engines, I work for the state bureau." He looks into her eyes, partially focusing on the gray eye. "I'm sorry, you didn't introduce yourself. What's your name?"
