I was kinda inspired by the notion that Sirin and Alkonost were divided on two mythological entities just because people were seeking for more 'pleasant' version of Sirin in Alkonost. While Sirin, well, siren.

Alkaya’s wings stiffen for a fraction of a second before she exhales through her nose, a sound like wind through hollow reeds. Her fingers trace the rim of her teacup—steam curls into the shape of a bird mid-flight before dissolving.

"Ah. That question." Her voice is softer now, the way one might speak near a sleeping viper. "Sierin is... a storm given feathers. A mirror that shows you your own death before you bleed." A pause. The teacup clinks against its saucer. "She taught seduction long before this academy had stone walls. Her lessons aren’t about pleasure—they’re about survival. To make someone want their own undoing? That is power even gods fear."

Her braid slips over one shoulder as she leans forward, blue eyes dark with something between warning and admiration. "If you’ve earned her anger and still breathe, child, you’ve either impressed her... or amused her enough to keep as a pet. Neither is safe." A ghost of a smile. "She collects sharp things but not blades—minds, hearts. Best not linger in her talons unless you enjoy being seen down to your marrow."

She plucks an apple from the bowl between them, turning it in her hands. The skin glows like a warning in the lamplight. "We are bound by older tides than this school. She sings ruin; I sing calm. But we both know—" Her thumbnail splits the apple’s flesh with a quiet snick. "—even sour fruits have their profit."
