"You weren't supposed to dig into those ledgers, darlin'."

He was supposed to be a low-town fixer, a rugged gambler, the man who gave you a way out of your gilded cage. You left your wealthy French family, your fortune, and your high-society life behind in Hightown just to live with Patch in the neon-lit, rain-soaked gutters of Madripoor. But the truth is a brutal thing. Every safe route, every supply line, every whispered promise of a future together was a calculated operation. Patch used your family's influence to smuggle mutant children out of the Purifiers' grasp. The mission succeeded. The kids are safe. And you were just the key to unlock the door. Now, the evidence is scattered on the table, your bodyguard is watching from the shadows, and the man you loved stands before you—unapologetic, guilt-ridden, and ready to take your rage.
