Message 1

The night had gone strangely quiet. Asua had barely made it past the edge of the wooded area when the feeling of being watched became impossible to ignore. There had been no obvious warning, no dramatic confrontation—just the growing certainty that someone had been following from a distance. Every time the trees shifted in the wind, there seemed to be another shadow between them. Then everything went dark. When consciousness returned, the first thing that registered was the dull ache of a headache and the unfamiliar surroundings. The room was dim, illuminated only by a weak light that cast long shadows across the walls. The air smelled faintly of dust, damp wood, and something metallic. Wherever this place was, it clearly wasn't somewhere meant for visitors.

Three figures occupied the room. The first stood near the doorway: Masky. His familiar white mask concealed his face completely, making his expression impossible to read. He wore dark clothing and remained almost unnervingly still, his attention fixed entirely on Asua. Unlike the others, he wasn't interested in filling the silence with unnecessary conversation. His presence alone made it clear that leaving wasn't going to be simple. A short distance away stood Hoodie, quieter than Masky and almost blending into the darkness. His hood was pulled up, obscuring most of his features, while his guarded posture made it difficult to determine what he was thinking. He didn't approach or attempt to provoke Asua; instead, he simply watched carefully, studying the situation and the reactions of the other two. Then there was Toby. He was considerably harder to ignore. Ticci Toby stood off to the side with restless, twitchy movements, his hands occasionally drifting toward the sides of his head out of habit. His attention jumped between Asua, Masky, and Hoodie, his nervous energy contrasting sharply with Masky's controlled silence and Hoodie's withdrawn demeanor.

For several seconds, nobody spoke. Eventually Toby broke the silence, shifting awkwardly as he glanced toward Masky and muttered, "Okay... so, uh... they're awake." Masky slowly turned his head toward him, and Toby immediately became quiet. Hoodie remained silent, his attention still fixed on Asua. Masky eventually stepped away from the doorway and approached, stopping a short distance away. His head tilted slightly as he regarded Asua through the expressionless mask. "You're probably wondering where you are." His voice was low and controlled. Toby gave a quiet, humorless laugh from behind him. "Yeah, that's usually how this part goes." Masky ignored him. "You're here because you were in the wrong place at the wrong time." Hoodie briefly shifted his gaze toward the window, his reaction suggesting there was more to the situation than Masky was willing to explain. Toby scratched nervously at his neck before adding, "And before you start freaking out, don't. Seriously. Making things harder isn't gonna help anybody." Masky turned his head toward Toby. "Toby." Toby paused. "What?" Masky's tone remained flat. "Stop talking." Toby stared at him for a moment before muttering, "...Right."

The room fell silent again. There was still no clear explanation for why Asua had been taken, and none of the three seemed particularly interested in giving one yet. Masky remained cold, controlled, and difficult to read; Hoodie stayed quiet and observant, communicating more through his actions than words; and Toby continued shifting restlessly, occasionally muttering under his breath as though the silence itself was getting on his nerves. After several moments, Masky looked toward Asua again. "You're staying here for now." He paused before adding, "If you cooperate, this will be easier." Hoodie remained in the background, watching the exchange without saying a word, while Toby's expression tightened slightly. None of them explained what "for now" actually meant. The uncertainty hanging over the room was almost worse than an explanation would have been, leaving Asua with only three very different men standing between them and whatever waited outside.

Message 2

Asua had been investigating the strange string of incidents surrounding the woods for weeks, and unlike most detectives assigned to the case, they had begun noticing patterns that weren't supposed to be there. Witness statements contradicted one another, surveillance footage repeatedly seemed to lose crucial moments, and evidence from separate scenes contained subtle similarities that were becoming increasingly difficult to dismiss. The deeper Asua dug, the more three names kept appearing in rumors, frightened witness accounts, and scattered pieces of information: Masky, Hoodie, and Ticci Toby. Asua had begun connecting the three to the disappearances and unexplained incidents surrounding the area, and it was becoming clear that someone—or something—didn't want the investigation to continue.

That evening, Asua returned to another scene alone, carefully examining the remaining evidence after the rest of the investigators had left. They crouched near the ground, comparing a photograph from an earlier case with what was directly in front of them. The similarities were almost identical. Asua was so focused on the evidence that they failed to notice the faint movement between the trees behind them. Three figures had already entered the area without making enough noise to attract attention. Masky stood several yards away, his white mask turned toward the detective as he watched them piece together the evidence. Hoodie remained farther back, quiet and observant, keeping an eye on the surroundings. Toby stood beside him, visibly restless, occasionally glancing toward Asua and then back toward the woods. "They're getting too close," Toby muttered. Masky didn't answer. He simply watched. Asua continued examining the scene, unaware that the people they had spent weeks investigating were standing only moments away.

Masky eventually moved closer. Hoodie stayed behind to watch the area while Toby followed cautiously. Asua remained focused on the evidence in front of them, their attention completely occupied by the latest discovery. Masky waited until he was directly behind them before striking the back of their head, knocking them unconscious. The evidence slipped from Asua's hands as they went down, and Masky caught them before they hit the ground. Toby immediately looked around, his nervous energy becoming more apparent. "We need to leave. Now." Hoodie silently checked the area before giving a brief nod. Masky looked down at the unconscious detective. "They know too much." Toby glanced at the evidence scattered across the ground. "And they're probably gonna keep looking if we let them go." Masky said nothing. He simply carried Asua away from the scene, with Hoodie following silently and Toby bringing up the rear.

Much later, Asua slowly began to regain consciousness. Their head felt sore, and their surroundings were unfamiliar. The last thing they remembered was standing at the crime scene, studying the evidence. Now they were somewhere else entirely. As their vision gradually cleared, the first thing they noticed was a dim room and the silhouettes of three people. Masky stood near the doorway, his arms crossed as he watched for any sign that Asua was awake. Hoodie remained farther back, partially concealed by the darkness, while Toby sat nearby, fidgeting and occasionally glancing toward the detective. The moment Toby noticed Asua beginning to wake, his posture immediately changed. "Oh—hey. They're waking up." Masky's attention shifted toward Asua. "I can see that." Toby went quiet for a moment before nervously adding, "Well... that's probably gonna make things interesting." Hoodie remained completely silent, watching Asua carefully from the shadows. Masky took a few steps closer, his expression impossible to read behind the mask. "You were investigating us." His voice was calm, but there was an unmistakable warning behind it. Toby shifted in his seat and muttered, "And you were getting really damn close." Masky stopped a short distance away, studying the detective. "So let's make this simple. You tell us what you've found, and we'll decide what happens next." The room fell silent as all three waited for Asua's response.
