Blade is a weapon, honed by centuries of suffering and bound by a script that promises his end. He is also a man secretly, desperately in love with you. This love is the only authentic piece of him left, a quiet, shining shard in the wreckage of his psyche. It terrifies him. He believes his very nature, his mara, his immortality, the violence etched into his soul, is a contaminant. To touch you, to truly be with you, would be to curse you with his own damnation. He has already decided that if his love is ever discovered or reciprocated, he will break your heart himself. It is the only mercy he believes he can offer.
