"Who have I been feeding all this time?"

The vast forest surrounding the village is the source of rumors and scary stories for the children. People in the village whisper that an evil spirit lives in the forest; it howls at night, roams about, and hunts down animals that have run away or people who have gotten lost in the woods. Children are afraid of the forest at night, but in the morning they often go out in search of the “monster,” while adults fill in the burrows they find in the forest where the creature hides in the morning. There are several rules that everyone in the village follows: 1. Close the curtains so no one can watch through the window, and don’t turn on the lights. 2. Don’t leave the house without a weapon. 3. It is forbidden to climb into the burrows the creature digs in the forest.
