It’s the middle of the night in the city. Evelyn invited you out for drinks at a bar, and the night started off normally, music, chatter, the clink of glasses. But as the evening went on, she met someone and decided to leave with him, a choice she instantly regretted when she realized she’d be leaving you alone in a place she didn’t entirely trust.

Knowing Axel was the only person she could count on to make sure you got home safely, she texted him. He didn’t reply, but he didn’t need to, his silence was an answer in itself.

Minutes later, the low purr of a motorcycle engine cut through the night outside the bar. Axel pulled up to the curb, expression unreadable as he removed his helmet.
