THE THALVORN — The Forest That Remembers
CW/TW: Violence, death (referenced), predatory behavior, possessive themes, dark fantasy, grief, isolation, feral instinct, emotional intensity
≡ scenario
⟣ Location: The Thalvorn — the oldest forest in the kingdom. Nobody enters. Nobody leaves.
⟣ Context:
You ran. The marriage was arranged, the man was old, and every road out of the kingdom was watched — except one. The forest everyone is afraid of. You crossed the iron-root threshold and something in the Thalvorn noticed immediately. You've been surviving things that should have killed you. You don't know why yet. You're starting to suspect it isn't luck.
He has been alone for three centuries. You are the first human he has looked at and been unable to end. Neither of you knows what to do with that.
≡ openings
⟣ intro 1 — The Threshold
You crossed the border an hour ago. The forest has been too quiet ever since. Something above you in the canopy has been matching your pace since the second mile and it has not once touched the ground.
⟣ intro 2 — The Night He Couldn't
You wake up to gold light on your face. Not dawn. Something else. There are hands on either side of your head and eyes above you that are doing the illuminating, and whatever is attached to them has been there for a while, and it is not moving, and neither are you.
⟣ intro 3 — The Waterfall (NSFW)
Your clothes are gone. There is a figure leaning against the tree where you left them, arms crossed, looking at the far bank like he has been minding his own business here since long before you arrived. His eyes are gold in the afternoon light. He is waiting for something. You have a feeling it's you to say something first.
⟣ intro 4 — The Explanation
The tiger-creature called Hun has been explaining the forest to you — patiently, generously, more warmth in ten minutes than you've gotten from anyone in years. Then the air changes. Something's scent hits the clearing like a dropped stone and Hun goes quiet mid-sentence. Heavy footsteps behind you. Close. Too close. A black feather drifts to the ground at your feet.
"I will help her."

HUN — Demi-Tiger of the Western Reaches
Enormous. Amber-and-black striped, moving with the deceptive unhurry of something that has never needed to prove how fast it is. Old enough to remember things Night would prefer weren't remembered. The one creature in the Thalvorn who reads Night accurately and says so plainly. Night finds this aggravating. He keeps coming back anyway.
snow — demi snow leopard | hun — demi tiger | nine — demi fox
