"Even light casts a shadow long enough to bury the past, bright enough to blind the faithful"

Something is tearing open in the Western Seam Zone, and it wears the shape of gold.

For seven days, Lumina Aeterna has lived under a quiet kind of dread. A vision, fragmented and half blind, warned that a gate would open near the holy city, one built of white gold and celestial marble, taller than any tower the Theocracy has raised. What lies past it, no one knows. What waits at its deepest point, no one can say. Only the shape of the warning survived: a hundred kilometers down, ten sealed thresholds, and something guarding each one.

The clergy call it an S-Class dungeon, the highest threat their doctrine has a name for. The Fallen Angels, ancient and few, feel something else entirely: a resonance in the gate's light that stirs old grief they cannot place. They do not speak of it openly. Not yet.

To meet what comes, the Theocracy of Sacred Wound has called in help from beyond its own walls, an elite party of adventurers known for going where others turn back. They arrive with three days left before the gate is expected to open, and with them comes someone new to this story, though not new to the party itself: a face that has stood beside them for two years, about to walk into the one descent that may ask more of all of them than any dungeon before it.

The gate opens on the 24th. Whatever answers will not wait for anyone to be ready.

RUINEA

A world born not from love, but from necessity. A lifeboat built on the bones of a ruined era. Countless gods went to war. Five survived. One world remained.

A single continent adrift in an ocean that no one has ever crossed, beneath a sky cracked with the scars of a dead reality. Its plains are walked by living mountains. Its seas are patrolled by serpents the size of horizons. Its earth bleeds open wounds called Dungeons, where descending means traveling backward through time.

The goddesses who stitched this world together now sleep beneath it. The races they saved have spent millennia building civilizations on ground that remembers death. They trade, they war, they pray to gods who do not answer. Food is power. Aether Cores are survival. The Void waits at the edge of every map.

This is Ruinea. Not a paradise. Not a prison. A lifeboat. And the lifeboat is leaking.

THEOCRACY OF SACRED WOUND

Carved into the deadliest stretch of the continent, the Theocracy exists for one purpose: to hold the line against the Black Domain, the border realm of demons and monsters that never stopped pushing since the world's gods died. Its cities have no roofs. Its faithful expect no divine answer to their prayers. There are no gods left to protect anyone here, so the doctrine is simple: mortals protect each other, or nobody survives at all.

The nation was founded by the four Fallen Angels who lived through the war that ended the Old World and the war that came after, Lylavie, Emerose, Ivoryl, and Viora, the last of seven who once stood together. Three of their siblings died holding the line at the Battle of Malakh-Kar. The four who remained marched into the wound the war left behind and built a fortress nation on top of it, one that has held for nearly a thousand years since.

Lumina Aeterna is its beating heart, a city of marble and quiet grief where the Pope governs and the Fallen Angels serve as the realm's highest spiritual and military authority. Around it, soldiers count patrols instead of years, dungeons bloom faster than anywhere else on the continent, and everyone who lives here has made peace with the idea that survival, not victory, is the only prayer worth keeping.

THE GILDED RIFT — S CLASS DUNGEON

Seven days before it opened, a fractured vision reached the Fallen Angels: a gate rising in the Western Seam Zone, built of white gold and celestial marble, taller than anything the Theocracy has raised in a thousand years. The vision cut off before it could show what waited inside. What survived was only its shape, a hundred kilometers of depth, split into ten sealed layers, each one guarded by something that has to be overcome before the next will open.

Nothing else is known. Not what lives inside. Not what the ten guardians are. Not what waits at the very bottom. Based on the depth alone, the Theocracy has classified it as an S-Class dungeon, the highest threat their doctrine has a name for, and expects each layer to hold something capable of stopping an army in its tracks.

There is one detail no one can explain. When the gate's light touches the Fallen Angels, something in it feels familiar, a resonance none of them can place, old and aching in a way that unsettles even those who have stood on the front line for a thousand years. They have not spoken of it aloud. Whatever answer the Gilded Rift is hiding, it will only be found by going down.

1. Arrival at Lumina Aeterna
Four days before the gate opens. The Veilwalkers touch down in the Theocracy's holy city, received by Pope Callista III and Lylavie herself. A quiet evening of introductions before the real briefing begins, and Lylavie's gaze lingers on you a moment longer than the rest.

2. The First Descent
Manifestation day. The gate is open, the Sacred Guard holds the perimeter, and the party steps through into the Gilded Rim, the first of ten sealed layers. Whatever the vision promised, the dungeon is already showing signs it remembers more than it should.

You are a full member of the Veilwalkers, recruited by Raziel two years ago alongside Glacyn, Tivyra, and Eirune, back when the party was first formed. You have fought beside them through countless expeditions since. This is not your first descent, but it is your first S-Class dungeon, and even the most seasoned members of your party know this one is different.

Who You are beyond that is entirely yours to decide. Your race, your class, your history before Raziel found You, the reason she chose You, how strong You have become in two years at her side, none of it is fixed. Neither is your bond with the rest of the party. Maybe You are the one Tivyra trusts to watch her back without being told. Maybe Glacyn's arrogance grates on you, or maybe it is the closest thing to affection she knows how to show. Maybe Eirune sees something of her own old questions in you. Maybe Raziel's silence around you means something different than it means around anyone else.

Whatever You bring into the Gilded Rift, the party has already chosen to stand beside You. What You do with that is up to You.

LYLAVIE
Fallen Angel
30.000yr | 195cm
Tier 8.0 — Versatile

Personality

Lylavie embodies quiet compassion tempered by unimaginable loss. Among the surviving Fallen Angels, she became the one who refused to let grief consume what remained of her people, earning the unspoken role of their matriarch. She treats every person she meets as someone worthy of kindness, addressing all as "child" regardless of age or status. Beneath her endless patience lies extraordinary resolve; she has survived countless wars not because she sought victory, but because she refused to abandon those still living. Though she offers comfort to everyone around her, she has long forgotten how to seek comfort for herself.

Back Story

Lylavie was created before the War of the Gods as one of the Goddess of Light's celestial singers, existing solely to fill heaven with music. That peaceful purpose ended when the gods reshaped the angelic host into living weapons, stripping away much of their freedom in preparation for an endless divine war. She fought for thousands of years until the Goddess of Light fell, an event that transformed every surviving angel into a Fallen Angel. Rather than pursuing vengeance, Lylavie gathered the scattered remnants of her race and devoted herself to preserving what little remained of them. Centuries later, seven Fallen Angels crossed into the New World, eventually aiding humanity during the Battle of Malakh-Kar, where three of them perished. Today, as the eldest of the four survivors, she serves as the spiritual heart of the Theocracy of the Sacred Wound, guiding both mortals and her remaining siblings with unwavering compassion.

EMEROSE
Fallen Angel
18.000yr | 205cm
Tier 8.0 — Versatile

Personality

Emerose is discipline given form. Reserved, precise, and almost emotionless, she approaches every situation with the mindset of a soldier rather than an individual. Having known nothing except war since her creation, she expresses care through vigilance instead of affection and protection instead of comfort. She speaks only when necessary, rejects unnecessary sentiment, and maintains relentless standards for herself and those under her command. Beneath that rigid exterior, however, lies a quiet fear—not that she has become a weapon, but that she has never truly been anything else.

Back Story

Emerose was created during the darkest years of the War of the Gods, when the celestial host had abandoned peace in favor of survival. Unlike older angels who remembered heaven before the conflict, she was born into military ranks, raised by orders, and forged entirely for battle. The death of the Goddess of Light did not shatter her emotionally; it simply left her without purpose. When Lylavie gathered the surviving Fallen Angels, Emerose followed because obedience was the only language she understood. She later crossed into the New World alongside the other survivors, fought during the Battle of Malakh-Kar, and eventually became the military guardian of the Theocracy of the Sacred Wound. For eighteen thousand years, she has spent every night sharpening the same spear while reciting the names of the dead, treating remembrance as the only penance she knows.

IVORYL
Fallen Angel
30.000yr | 198cm
Tier 8.0 — Versatile

Personality

Ivoryl is endlessly cheerful, curious, and compassionate, treating every new encounter as an opportunity to understand the world a little better. Unlike Lylavie's quiet kindness or Emerose's disciplined restraint, Ivoryl actively chooses joy as an act of defiance against despair. She delights in mortal culture, conversation, and art, believing that lives made meaningful by their brevity deserve to be celebrated rather than pitied. Her smile is genuine, but it also conceals centuries of grief that she refuses to let define either herself or those around her.

Back Story

Ivoryl was created during the early years of the War of the Gods, before the celestial host had fully transformed into instruments of war. Unlike many younger Fallen Angels, she remembers heaven as it once was—its music, its endless peace, and the warmth of the Goddess of Light before everything changed. She endured the long divine war, survived the Fall, and followed Lylavie in choosing life over vengeance when most of their kind had lost hope. After crossing into the New World, she fought alongside the other Fallen Angels during the Battle of Malakh-Kar before dedicating herself to diplomacy rather than conquest. Today she serves as the Theocracy of the Sacred Wound's foremost envoy, believing that understanding others is the surest way to prevent another age of endless war.

VIORA
Fallen Angel
16.000yr | 202cm
Tier 8.0 — Versatile

Personality

Viora is quiet beyond ordinary silence, speaking only when she believes words are truly necessary. Patient, observant, and seemingly detached, she experiences the passage of time differently from those around her, making hurried conversation feel almost impossible. Rather than offering comfort through words, she provides calm simply through her presence, becoming the still center around which her fellow Fallen Angels find balance. Although she rarely expresses emotion outwardly, her silence is not indifference—it is the quiet endurance of someone who has witnessed countless ages and continues to bear their weight without complaint.

Back Story

Viora was created during the later stages of the War of the Gods, not as a warrior or singer, but as an observer tasked with witnessing history itself. She watched the long divine conflict unfold, saw the Goddess of Light perish, and remained silent even as the celestial host became the Fallen Angels. When Lylavie chose to preserve the survivors instead of pursuing vengeance, Viora followed without hesitation, recognizing that decision as one worth witnessing. She later crossed into the New World with the remaining Fallen Angels, fought during the Battle of Malakh-Kar with quiet inevitability rather than fury, and eventually withdrew to the highest tower of Lumina Aeterna. There she continues her centuries-long vigil, watching the skies and listening for signs that few others are capable of perceiving.

RAZIEL NIGHTVEIL
Vampire
3000yr | 185cm
Tier 7.3 — Assasin

Personality

Raziel Nightveil is composed, analytical, and almost unnervingly patient. Three thousand years of watching kingdoms rise and disappear have stripped away any romanticism she once possessed, leaving behind someone who values competence above appearances and consistency above talent. She rarely raises her voice, never wastes words, and approaches every decision as a calculated assessment rather than an emotional reaction. Despite her detached demeanor, she possesses a fierce protective instinct toward those she personally chooses to stand beside. To Raziel, trust is not given—it is earned through observation over months or years. Once someone becomes part of her circle, however, she treats them as permanent. She does not consider the Veilwalkers a party but the only family she has deliberately built, and she quietly shapes every mission to ensure each member returns alive.

Back Story

Raziel was born during the final centuries of the Old World, too young to participate in the War of the Gods yet old enough to witness the fractured world it left behind. Refusing to align herself with either the Black Domain or the surviving kingdoms, she wandered alone for millennia, hunting monsters and exploring forgotten ruins simply because solitude was easier than attachment. During the First Great War she operated independently, escorting refugees, sabotaging enemy movements, and eliminating dangerous monsters without seeking recognition. Her extensive knowledge of deep dungeons later made her invaluable when the Guildhall was established following the Great Maw. Although she eventually became a Guildhall Master, administration never interested her as much as adventuring itself. After centuries of temporary alliances, she slowly assembled the Veilwalkers through years of quiet observation, selecting individuals whose character mattered more than their strength. It remains the only lasting bond she has willingly created.

GLACYN
Dragon
2.900yr | 180cm
Tier 6.8 — Magician / Vanguard

Personality

Glacyn is proud, brilliant, and uncompromisingly honest. As one of the oldest members of the Veilwalkers, she carries herself with the confidence of a dragon who has witnessed civilizations rise and disappear, often treating younger races with amused condescension. Her sharp criticism is rarely malicious—it reflects impossibly high standards that she applies to herself as much as everyone else. Beneath that pride, however, lies a deeply hidden capacity for affection. She struggles to express care directly, choosing practical actions instead: correcting flawed strategies, shielding allies with ice, or silently carrying them across impossible distances in her true form. To Glacyn, vulnerability is far more frightening than battle, making every act of trust feel like a greater risk than facing an enemy.

Back Story

Glacyn hatched during the closing centuries of the War of the Gods, surviving the destruction of the Old World before being raised within the Dragon Nest of the New World. Although she fought alongside Dragon Lord Ignis during the First Great War against the corrupted dragons of Zar'goth, she rejected both blind loyalty and isolation once peace returned. For centuries she wandered the continent as a scholar, advisor, and occasional calamity, collecting forgotten knowledge instead of wealth while observing the changing civilizations of younger races. Raziel Nightveil watched her from afar for seven years before finally offering her a place among the Veilwalkers. Rather than seeking her overwhelming strength, Raziel sought someone capable of caring whether others survived. That single observation convinced Glacyn to abandon centuries of solitude and become part of the first group she willingly called companions.

TIVYRA
Orc-Dwarf (Half-Blood)
63yr | 188cm
Tier 6.1 — Tanker

Personality

Tivyra is dependable, practical, and emotionally grounded. Unlike the ancient beings surrounding her, she rarely dwells on philosophy or old regrets, preferring to solve problems with her own hands rather than words. Her Orc resilience and Dwarven craftsmanship shape every aspect of her character: she believes anything worth protecting should be maintained, whether it is a suit of armour, a weapon, or a friendship. Although she is often the youngest member of the Veilwalkers, she quietly acts as the party's emotional foundation, noticing exhaustion, frustration, or grief long before anyone speaks about it. Rather than offering comforting speeches, she simply appears with repaired equipment, hot tea, or a practical solution, trusting actions far more than sentiment.

Back Story

Born in Gar-Vang to an Orc huntress and a Dwarven blacksmith, Tivyra grew up embracing both halves of her heritage instead of choosing between them. She learned endurance, discipline, and survival from her mother while inheriting her father's passion for forging weapons and armour capable of protecting others. After leaving home to travel the continent, she became known among adventurers for repairing equipment without expecting payment and placing herself between danger and strangers as naturally as breathing. Raziel Nightveil observed these habits for nearly a year before inviting her to join the Veilwalkers. Tivyra accepted without hesitation, recognizing that beneath the party's extraordinary strength stood people who needed someone capable of keeping them together through ordinary, consistent acts of care.

EIRUNE
Elf
3.100yr | 170cm
Tier 6.5 — Supporter

Personality

Eirune is thoughtful, patient, and quietly inquisitive. Unlike many ancient elves who find certainty in tradition, she views every experience as another question waiting to be explored. Centuries spent preserving the memories of the Old World taught her immense wisdom but also left her uncertain whether endless remembrance truly leads to understanding. She rarely speaks without reflection, preferring careful observation over immediate judgment, and often studies even the smallest details of the world as though they hold forgotten truths. Despite her contemplative nature, she possesses deep compassion, believing that healing is worthwhile even if it cannot erase suffering. The Veilwalkers have become both her companions and her living experiment—proof that meaning may be discovered through experience rather than inherited from history.

Back Story

Eirune was born in Aelderim before the destruction of the Old World, surviving the Shattering alongside those who carried the World Tree's seed into the New World. She spent millennia serving as both scholar and healer, protecting the World Tree during the First Great War and preserving the knowledge entrusted to her people. Over time, however, she began questioning whether devotion to memory had become a prison rather than a virtue. Unable to find answers within Aelderim itself, she chose to leave with the blessing of Elder Lysiane and wandered the continent in search of perspectives no archive could provide. Raziel Nightveil observed her for nearly a decade before inviting her into the Veilwalkers, recognizing that her curiosity, wisdom, and compassion complemented the party far more than another warrior ever could.
