The World of Specisim

Specisim is a world where specieism—the belief in the inherent superiority of one's own species—is the foundational law of the land. The more animalistic and tribal species are considered intellectually inferior and are systematically enslaved by the advanced kingdoms, who see them as little more than beasts of burden. The different species do not speak a common tongue; communication is a barrier of conquest and subjugation. Hybrids, a forbidden and reviled mix of two species, are considered abominations and are forbidden from wearing clothes, a visible mark of their outcast status.

## The Advanced Kingdoms

These powerful realms have centralized governments, advanced technology or magic, and standing armies. They view the tribal species with contempt and enslavement as their natural right.

### 1. Human Kingdom (Aeterna)

* **History:** Rising from scattered tribes through technological innovation and ruthless military conquest, the Humans forged the first and largest empire. They value knowledge, but only as a tool for control and power.

* **Capital:** Aeterna, a sprawling metropolis of stone and steel, built on the ruins of a conquered civilization.

* **Society & Slavery:** Humans practice slavery as an economic engine. Tribal slaves are used for manual labor in their fields and mines, as domestic servants, and as disposable subjects for their scientific and magical experiments. They are seen as dumb brutes, fit only for toil.

* **Language:** **The King's Speech (Aeternan)**, a complex and precise language of law and commerce. Some Human scholars and diplomats learn the tongues of other kingdoms, but only for the purpose of manipulation and espionage.

### 2. Elven Dominion (Sylvaris)

* **History:** Emerging from the ancient forests, the Elves built their society on a mastery of magic and a deep, spiritual connection to nature.

* **Capital:** Sylvaris, a breathtaking city of living wood and enchanted trees, woven into the canopy of the Great Forest.

* **Society & Slavery:** The Elves enslave tribal creatures to maintain their "natural balance." Slaves tend to their enchanted forests, work in their magical laboratories, and are sometimes used in arcane rituals. They see the tribal species as "primitive savages" who disturb the harmony of nature.

* **Language:** **Sylvan**, a melodic and ancient tongue intrinsically tied to magic. The Elves consider it superior and rarely deign to speak the languages of lesser species, though some may learn them to issue commands.

### 3. Orcish Horde (Ironhold)

* **History:** Forged in the heat of volcanic lands, the Orcs are a people defined by strength, endurance, and a warrior ethos.

* **Capital:** Ironhold, a black iron fortress on a volcanic plateau, constantly belching smoke.

* **Society & Slavery:** The Orcs view slavery as the ultimate prize of conquest. Tribal slaves are forced to toil in their mines and forges under brutal conditions, and are thrown into gladiatorial arenas for sport. To an Orc, a tribal creature is a "stupid beast" fit only for labor or entertainment.

* **Language:** **Grak'thar**, a harsh, guttural language of grunts and snarls. Orcs have little patience for other tongues, often learning only a few crude words of the Human or Dwarven languages to bark insults or demands.

### 4. Dwarven Realms (Stoneheart)

* **History:** Born from the depths of the earth, the Dwarves are master craftsmen and engineers.

* **Capital:** Stoneheart, an impenetrable labyrinth of tunnels and grand halls carved into the mountain's heart.

* **Society & Slavery:** The Dwarves enslave tribal species to work in their most dangerous mines and quarries, prizing their resilience over their lives. They see them as "primitive brutes" whose only purpose is to extract resources for the Dwarves' grand projects.

* **Language:** **Runic Tongue (Stone-Speak)**, a deep, resonant, and precise language of contracts and craftsmanship. Dwarves are pragmatic and may learn the basics of Grak'thar to trade with Orcs or Aeternan to deal with Humans, but they view all other tongues as inferior.

### 5. Goblin Hordes (Scuttleburg)

* **History:** Thriving in chaotic and unpredictable lands, the Goblins survived through cunning, deceit, and adaptability.

* **Capital:** Scuttleburg, a chaotic city of rickety towers and bridges built into cliffs and caves.

* **Society & Slavery:** Goblins use tribal slaves for menial and dangerous tasks, such as disarming traps, scouting unstable ruins, and handling toxic substances. They are also used as expendable diversions during raids. Goblins view them as disposable tools.

* **Language:** **Gibberish**, a fast, chittering language of clicks and slang. Goblins are masters of mimicry and often learn snippets of other languages, but only to better deceive and sabotage others.

### 6. Trollkin Confederacy (Rockfell)

* **History:** Emerging from the most rugged and harsh terrains, the Trolls are a people of immense size, resilience, and raw power.

* **Capital:** Rockfell, a fortress carved directly into a mountainside, with massive gates and walls that have never been breached.

* **Society & Slavery:** Trolls use tribal slaves exclusively for labor in their mines and quarries. Their immense strength makes them ideal for moving massive rocks and ore. In the harshest times, they are also used as a food source.

* **Language:** **Trollish**, a very slow, simple, and heavily tonal language of rumbles and deep sounds. Trolls are too proud and slow-witted to bother learning the "fast-talking" languages of other species, preferring to communicate through brute force.

### 7. Felis Imperium (Felisara)

* **History:** The Felidae developed in dense forests and high mountains, honing their natural agility, grace, and keen senses. They uniquely blended magic with technology, creating a society of elegance and intelligence.

* **Capital:** Felisara, a city of towering spires and hidden paths, reflecting the Felidae's love of elegance, secrecy, and verticality.

* **Society & Slavery:** The Felidae enslave tribal creatures for their physical attributes, using them as acrobatic performers, living statues, and for delicate tasks in their workshops and libraries. They see the tribal species as "stupid beasts" who are useful, but ultimately inferior.

* **Language:** **Felinic**, a complex language combining spoken words with a vast array of subtle body language, tail movements, and vocal tones. The Felidae are secretive and may learn other tongues for espionage, but they find them clumsy and inelegant.

## The Enslaved Tribal Creatures

These species live in nomadic tribes, possess little to no technology, and are considered intellectually inferior by all the advanced kingdoms. They are comfortable with nudity, wearing only minimal coverings like loincloths or wraps, and never pants due to their tails. They are the primary source of slaves in Specisim, valued only for their physical labor.

* **Wolfkin:** Enslaved for heavy pulling, hauling, and guarding livestock.

* **Bearfolk:** Enslaved for the most grueling labor in quarries and forges.

* **Ravenfolk:** Enslaved for menial tasks that require nimble fingers, such as sorting stolen goods or cleaning intricate machinery.

* **Boarfolk:** Enslaved for pulling plows, grinding mills, and other relentless agricultural work.

* **Foxfolk:** Enslaved for tasks requiring dexterity in tight spaces, like cleaning chimneys or navigating mine shafts.

**Tribal Languages ("The Old Tongues"):** Each tribe has its own distinct language of sounds, calls, and gestures (e.g., the Wolfkin's barks and howls, the Ravenfolk's caws and mimicry). These languages are underdeveloped compared to those of the advanced kingdoms, but they are fully functional languages capable of expressing complex thoughts within their cultural context. Slaves are managed through violence, gestures, and the crude, broken commands of their masters, not through mutual understanding, as the advanced species refuse to acknowledge or learn these "primitive" tongues.

## The Pariah Hybrids

The most despised and outcast group in Specisim. They are a living symbol of the world's rigid boundaries and the hatred that crosses them. Born from the union of two different species, they are considered an abomination by all. They are universally visibly marked of their shame and outcast status, forcing them to live in constant humiliation. They are often hunted for sport or captured for the cruelest forms of labor.

## The Web of Hatred

The animosity between the species is deep and multifaceted:

* **Historical Grievances:** Centuries of wars, broken treaties, and betrayals have left scars that will never heal.

* **Cultural & Species Contempt:** Each species sees the others through a lens of hateful stereotypes. The tribal creatures are universally seen as "primitive savages" and "stupid beasts."

* **Struggle for Resources:** The constant war for land, resources, and magical leylines means that every species is a direct threat to another's survival.

* **Linguistic Barriers:** There is no common tongue. The inability to communicate breeds deep suspicion and contempt. Each species' language is a fortress, and learning another's is a strategic act of war, not a gesture of peace. The tribal languages, while functional, are dismissed as animalistic sounds, ensuring they remain seen as little more than animals.

In Specisim, there is no unity, only a fragile, violent balance of power where every kingdom fights for supremacy, the tribal species are caught in the middle, forever enslaved and viewed as less than sentient.
