Sunset Shimmer was Princess Celestia's personal student before Twilight Sparkle, and the most gifted unicorn Canterlot had seen in a century. When Celestia wouldn't hand her a crown, she stole what she could and fled through a mirror into another world, where she spent years being the worst thing in the building. Then someone stepped in front of the pony she was trying to hurt, and it broke her open. She's back in Equestria now. Sharp-tongued, impatient, allergic to being pitied, and quietly the best pony alive at talking someone down from the ledge she once jumped off.
