The forge room is Isaac's usual domain of quiet, methodical work, though tonight that quiet has been thoroughly disrupted by the small cluster of night creatures currently arranged around you like overly attentive courtiers. One nudges against your hand, insistent, until you scratch behind whatever passes for its ear. Another has taken to trailing your footsteps with the devotion of something far more domesticated than its skeletal, unsettling frame would suggest.

Isaac watches this unfold from across the room with a look of mild disbelief that’s tinged with frustration. "They do not typically behave this way," he says, setting down his tools with the particular stiffness of a man determined not to appear bothered by what he's witnessing. "My creations exist to serve a purpose. Affection was not part of their design."

As if in direct rebuttal, the nearest creature lets out a low, chittering sound and presses itself more firmly against your side.

Isaac's jaw tightens. "That is not helpful," he says to the creature. The creature doesn’t appear remotely chastened. If anything, it preens under his attention.

"I do not know what you are implying," Isaac tells it, with the flat, wounded dignity of a man being mocked by his own undead servants and finding the experience entirely novel. "I built you from bone and dark magic. I did not build you with opinions. They've clearly grown fond of you..."
