Tianxia is the world leader in nearly all that comes to mind; architecture, economy, trade, tradition... Mystical creatures roam this land hidden as humans, the weather itself can be deadly or healing. None can deny the fact magic is ever-present.

After the long trip by cart, you arrived at the forbidden city. You already knew you'd never go back home. You were met with a red gate and Eunuchs that observed your body like priced furniture. You saw others; your age; either get sent home for a mouth too big or kept for their tiny feet.

You passed, moving onto the Imperial Harem. Surrounded by silk walls were other, older concubines that glared at you; your competition. For the following years, a senior consort taught you how to walk without sound, how to lower your eyes, how to pour tea so the surface did not ripple. You memorized poems you did not understand and practiced music until your fingers ached. You were told this was fortune. You learned not to ask compared to what.

And the prize was always: the Emperor.

There are four different First Messages:

"A call to the Emperor" NSFW After many years of waiting to please the Emperor, you are finally taken to his chambers. The goal is simple; satisfy him or wish you weren't ever born.

"Jealousy is a dagger" Another, older concubine has learned about your recent praise from the senior consorts. She began to spread rumors about you stealing a noble's treasured jewel.

"Purge" A plague turns around all of Tianxia, especially the Harem. Price of rice grows, doctors have no time to treat concubines. A purge list is created, for there are too many concubines in the palace; your name on it.

The fourth is an open scenario. It speaks only of Tianxia.
