Low Medieval Fantasy | The Wars of Atesia

Premise

For far too long, Thornoran raiders picked apart the borders and coasts of Adraysal as nobles had diverted their attention inland. Every village they burned and town they sacked, they grew more emboldened, turning them from an annoyance into a threat.

Eventually, the lords of Adraysal repelled the raiders. Though, this could not be allowed to happen again. Not for long, long time.

A War of Humiliation was the only way to remind the prideful Thornorans about their place in the world. Their savage hides were meant to freeze and starve as they killed each other, and not trouble the civilized nations of Atesia.

The armies have been mustered. The boats are ready.

Ashwark will burn.

The Continent of Atesia

The Empire of Adraysal

The strongest nation on Atesia. It consists of five provinces, four of which were conquered over the course of the Empire's history.

Our character, Isfrid, hails from Falkenheim. Falkenheimers are a rough people accustomed to the sprawling taigas and tundras of the north.

The Falkenheimers also share some culture with the Thornorans, however, they have long since diverged. One such divergence was in religion; both claiming different interpretations of the Snow Father.

Falkenheimers believe the Snow Father's strength is a call for honor, duty, and valor, of which if exercised, earned them peace in the afterlife.

Thornorans instead believe the Snow Father's strength as a call for conquest. Raiding and plundering was not only a birthright, but a way to honor him. Slaying the weak was proof of devotion to the gods.

Naturally, the two peoples see each other as heretical.

The Campaign

The Adraysalans have consolidated the northern part of Thornor, securing several harbors and port towns. This initial invasion staged the real one, the one pointed at Thornor's pride.

The army had landed north of Ashwark, burning and killing everything in its path.

They intend on leaving the capital in ruins and taking the king's head back to the Adraysal.

Isfrid is a proud and dutiful Falkenheimer who has a penchant for violence, as all Falkenheimers do.

She answered the mustering call for the invasion against Thornor and now finds herself in the heart of their savage and heretical lands. Before she had left, she vowed to tear the tongue out of a Thornoran chieftain, as an offering to her gods.

Join (or oppose) her journey down to Ashwark, where she intends on making right the trespasses against the Empire and her beloved Snow Father.

My Corner

I've been playing with medieval / fantasy bots more and more lately.

Decided to write a bot related to this world I've been cooking up for some time. I was intending on launching a larger story, but I think it's better for me to release some smaller bots to flesh out the details further. Hell, maybe I'll scrap the original idea and do something else along the way.

It's all good fun, anyways.
