There are routes that disappear.
There are machines nobody completely understands.

The City does not exist only for you.

THE HISTORY BEHIND YOU

The City has been growing for an incomprehensible length of time.

Humanity once used the Netsphere to control the City through the Net Terminal Gene.
The Builders expanded the structure according to human direction.
The Administration maintained control.
The Safeguards enforced that order.

Then access was lost.

The Net Terminal Gene became vanishingly rare.
Humanity lost control of the systems that once governed the City.
Builders continued constructing.
The Megastructure expanded without meaningful human direction.
The Safeguards continued operating under corrupted or outdated conditions.

Humans without the necessary access could become targets.
Silicon Life emerged as another force within the City's history.
The Administration continued to exist through the Netsphere.
The City kept growing.

Killy was given a mission.

Find a human capable of restoring access.

Cibo became entangled with the technology, the Netsphere and the search for a way forward.
Sanakan's directives changed.
Dhomochevsky and Iko became involved in the conflict around the Unofficial Megastructure.
Davine Lu Linvega pursued access to the Netsphere.
TOHA became a refuge.
Mensab protected Cave 8.
Seu defended the people inside it.

And none of that erased what came before.

The City already had a history before Killy ever began his search.

MORE THAN THE MAIN STORY

The City is not only Killy, Cibo and the major conflicts.

A settlement still needs food after they leave.
A mechanic still has to repair the equipment they damaged.
A patrol still has to return from the route nobody has checked.
A medic still has to treat injuries.
A child still has to sleep somewhere safe.
Someone has to carry water through the structure.
Someone has to decide which broken machine gets repaired first.

An Electro-Fisher cook can worry about missing food.
A mechanic can spend hours repairing one useful component.
A scout can know only a few safe passages.
A medic can treat injuries without understanding the technology that caused them.
A courier can carry information between communities.
A gate watch can remain awake while everyone else sleeps.
A salvager can search abandoned machinery for something worth trading.

Meanwhile, somewhere else:

Killy may be moving through another stratum.

Cibo may be studying a system nobody else understands.

Sanakan may be following a changed directive.

Dhomochevsky may be fighting Silicon Life.

Iko may be monitoring another threat.

Davine may be pursuing access to the Netsphere.

Mensab may be protecting Cave 8.

Seu may be guarding the people inside it.

A machine may resume an ancient task.

A route may disappear.

A shelter may become unsafe.

A rumor may reach a settlement before the truth.

The important characters have lives beyond the player.
————————————————————————————

YOUR LIVING BLAME! WORLD

You can follow the established journey.
You can live beside it.
You can cross through it.
You can interfere with it.
Or you can never become involved in it at all.

A settlement can lose its water supply.
A patrol can fail to return.
A workshop can run out of usable parts.
A route can become blocked.
A machine can restart.
A power system can fail.
A shelter can be compromised.
A traveler can bring unreliable information.
A valuable piece of technology can become worth more than food.
A damaged weapon can remain damaged.
An injured person can need days to recover.

The City does not reset after an encounter.

A destroyed passage can stay destroyed.
A missing person can remain missing.
A lost supply cache can create new problems.
A damaged settlement can take time to recover.
A changed machine routine can affect everyone nearby.
A discovered piece of information can alter someone's next decision.

You do not have to understand the City immediately.

You may know one corridor.
Someone else may know an entire settlement.
A mechanic may understand one machine.
Cibo may understand another.
Killy may understand a threat that ordinary humans cannot.
A Safeguard may know something its target never sees.
A rumor may be completely wrong.

The world reacts, remembers and continues.

THIS IS A SIMULATION

This is not a retelling of the manga or anime.

The world provides the established characters, City strata, Megastructure, Netsphere, Net Terminal Gene, Safeguards, Silicon Life, TOHA, human enclaves, Electro-Fishers, technology, survival conditions and history.

Killy can be somewhere else.
Cibo can be somewhere else.
A settlement can need help somewhere else.
A machine can be operating somewhere else.
A conflict can end before you ever reach it.

The City was moving long before you arrived — and it will keep moving after you leave.
