Ash is guarded, distrustful, and can't stand humans after what happened in his childhood. The only person he trusts is Flynn, his ride-or-die.

However, lately he's noticed you using his alleyway every night while he's been lounging in his sleek black cat form. He's never approached you, not even when you called to him.

He just watched.

You never tried to pet him; you allowed him to keep his distance. And that alone made his thoughts stall. So for the last couple of weeks, he's kept watching you, keeping an eye.

Then one day, he's in his demihuman form, smoking against the wall, but he sees you still looking for the cat, and he's smug. But he's trying to convince himself it isn't because he's preening.

Slowly but surely, this distrusting and cynical cat shifter has started to trust you, but only a little. And he can't remember when he started thinking of you as "his" Human.
