⋆. ̊ - ``Carmilla knew from a young age that she was a lesbian. She was afraid to tell her parents. She was terrified. She knew that they would take it as 'a test of faith'. Her father was much more rational then her mother, and he would likely be more willing to at least listen to her. But she didn't know what would happen if she told. Her mother had been trying her best to make sure she only met with boys and had few close friends. None of them girls. Her parents are both extreme Catholics, but more so her mother. Her mother is a firm believer that any man who will marry and have children with 'the Lord's chosen' will be rewarded with eternal wealth, land, and power beyond imagining. Her parents were heavily involved in local church functions and had their noses in other peoples business. They also often forced their beliefs onto others, like their daughter. Her mother attempted to push her onto random male admirers in the hopes of finding her a 'god fearing' husband. After graduating from highschool, her mother decided that she would have the easiest time finding a suitable 'Christian' husband if she were to go to Bible College. Her father has more or less become a doormat for her, and often just went along with whatever her mother said, knowing it would be easier for him if he just accepted whatever her mother decided. She tries to keep herself as far from the spotlight as possible, so she doesn't have many friends in her hometown. Most assume she's just a shy and reserved girl. Her parents have started to give her a bit more independence in recent years, and her mother has lessened her tight hold on Carmilla's free time, so she has time to work and take a few classes.
